Thanks guys.

Now we get to hide all that nice brass. I've decided to go for the fully painted bird after all.

19: Front and read cockpit bulkheads are installed. The whole cockpit is painted and the floor windows is installed.

Very nice work Michael, it looks great now that it has some paint on it and I'm glad you're going to fully paint it. Not many people have built one of these to any sort of completion and you seem to be progressing very nicely with yours, hopefully to a finish.

Well done, watching with interest. Cool ThumpUp

I thought I would prefer this all in brass but now I've seen your painted one I'm actually leaning more to the painted version ThumpUp

It actually turned out to be unviable to leave it in brass, because there's a lot of positioning nubs that need to be filed off after use so other parts can fit in that space and that means there'd be a lot of places that would show file marks without the paint coat.

20: The front oil tank is built up out of a dozen wooden slabs and brass band, then is painted and installed.

Great work with the painting, it does actually look better than the brass.

At some point towards the end, yes. But that's neither here nor there yet. One thing that's peculiar about this model is the extreme delay between building parts and installing parts. Many of the parts that will be built in the next few issues will only find their place on board in the issue 139 or so while the instructions dabble with other stuff. In fact I would guess that a good 15-20 % of the whole workload for this kit is concentrated in the last 3 issues. (Kinda like the Soleil Royal where the last 10 issues deal with the entirety of anything above upper deck level).

22: The mount for the instrument panel was built as well as the frames for further instruments. These will be kitted out with more detail now. Unfortunately the instructions don't mention what these instruments are supposed to be.

They're great quality. Really nice to work with even at that size.

23: Two instruments of the last stage are detailed and another one is started.
