This is my entry for build of the year 2017.

The kit is a resin and white metal kit of a Trumpeter of the Carabiniers 1809 sitting on a wall with his horse in the background.

Ian

Sounds a good choice as some of the figures in this era are very striking in terms of uniform.

What scale will it be?
Happy Modelling

Hi Carl, Phil and Tony.
Thanks for looking in and your comments.
Tony the scale is 90mm.
Phil this is the first go at figure painting. so it will be a learning curve for me. I have just ordered some books on painting figures for hints. I also have a Book called officers and soldiers of the French carabiniers 1679 to 1871 for reference about the uniform, which is a great help

In 1676, Louis XIV ( the sun king ) had some of his bodyguards equipped with riffled carbines, first four, then fifteen and soon seventeen men per brigade, and these troopers took the name of Carabiniers.

Commissions for officers in the carabiniers could not be purchased, but where granted by the king to deserving and talented officers of modest means.

The carabiniers were renowned for their superior horsemanship, and also required to fight on foot which they occasionally did, notably when they dismounted and stormed the captured the gates of Prague in 1741.

The reference book I am using for the uniform colours is Officers and soldiers of the French Carabiniers 1679 - 1871.

Looks a superb kit Ian and a nice choice for your entry, with some very crisp mouldings to both the resin and the white metal. Great to see a figure in the competition and I shall be watching this with interest - well done and good luck!! Cool ThumpUp

Who manufactures this kit by the way?
