Thanks Carl, interesting stuff. Some of the 1:43 kits are absolutely amazing with serious detail in such a small scale. Renaissance do a very nicely detailed 1:43 Alfa Romeo 158:

That looks like a nice kit.I actually have the Top Queens bimotore kit that is shown in the picture.THAT is an incredible kit.Almost as much detail as the MFH kits at 1/43 scale!!!

Yeah, it is mad sometimes how much detail they can build into something that size Carl but a fun challenge nonetheless and very satisfying when finished to a high standard .... and equally satisfying to be able to fit so many more models on a display shelf!!

I've had this kit loitering about in my ebay shopping cart for a while now. Seeing the pics of the kit contents prompted me to pull the trigger on it. i'll sit back and see where you go wrong, Carl....   Tired, Old, and Cranky!

Oh I an sure there will be lots of mistakes that I will make  .Its a really nice kit and not so daunting as the GTO kit which has a bazillion parts. Hi Carl. This kit looks fantastic. The detail in all those metal parts is incredible. I've had my eye on an MFH kit for a while now ( Mclaren of course ) but so far have resisted. I'm looking forward to following this one.

Thanks everyone.Malc these kits are just amazing.Highly recommended. The main frame is in 2 parts,mainly because the kit comes in 158 or 159 variations and they have different rear ends. I am building 158. The frame parts join with some 1.4 mm screws.it feels quite solid, but I am going to use some metal epoxy (JB weld) to reinforce the joint since this model will be quite heavy once finished.The engine block fits nicely between the frame rails.The instructions say to paint the chassis grey, but my reference photos show it to be mainly black so i will be painting mine black. Here is the roots type supercharger assembly.THis was the first type of supercharger and it works by having 2 rotor blades that spin in opposite directions.The air between the blades is then compressed. This is quite an efficient supercharger and has the benefit of still generating boost at relatively low rpms. The assembly is not mounted on to the engine until after the engine is installed on the frame because the engine mount sits between the supercharger body and the frame. Nice work Carl and making good progress already. I agree, you would be wise to use some metal epoxy on those joints. That Roots Supercharger looks very hefty on it's own, can't imagine what the whole car might weigh when finished, so yeah, very wise indeed!!
I have to admit Carl, this is my favourite build on the forum at the moment and watching with keen interest - thanks for sharing!!

Thanks guys, I started test fitting the front axle.These cars has independent front and rear suspension with the leaf springs mounted transversely on the front and rear axle. I also started adding some photoetched detail to the main frame. it may seem a bit disorganised, but the reason I am jumping around with this build, but everything fits on to the frame and there are tons of holes you need to drill in the frame. I have found by experience with MFH kits you need to predrill and make sure everything fits before you start assembly or you get into a lot of trouble accessing areas you may need to drill. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

Yes and the one you miss usually is unreachable once you find out without dismantling half the kit  and is critical to holding everything together!! Carl

Yes Daran these kits are well worth the money in my opinion. I finally finished drilling all of the holes on the main frame.There are mounting holes for the two auxiliary fuel tanks and the base plate.I drilled and tapped the holes for the base plate so I can take it off and on.Not sure yet if I will display it on or off.I am not thrilled about the stamped MFH writing on the bottom of this.I may fill it in. Very interested in seeing this come together. Its a kit range i am not familiar with so its interesting to see what you get for your money and what has to be done with the parts. Agree about the stamp on the base plate as some people use a mirror base and that would certainly be seen. Hope it continues well for you. Happy Modelling
