Hi to all R2D2 builder's.

I am really excited about this build and hope it will be as described

Got my first 2 issue's today. Previously signed to the test run back in March last year.

The parts have improved alot but I will be painting the blue parts, just not quite the right colour.

Darren

Have an AWSOME day and may the Force be with you always 😉

Hope your build goes well.

From what i have seen on the tv advert this looks a really good model and i can see its going to be a popular one.

what paints are you using, acrylic I presume, and will it be airbrushed. Just interested as it sounds like you are almost customising your build.

Cheers guys,

because we are only 2-4 issues in, Its just the blue parts that I want to do. Maybe make him look dirty, don't know yet, still early.

Below is what I did with the test parts back in March last year.

Will be using car spray paint, very durable. Just respraying at the moment.

Think the Tussaud's R2D2 is the look that I will be looking for, slightly 'worn' a little dirty, it just looks right.
Thought cleaned up Artoo in the final scenes of Star wars, was just too sparkly, and looked somehow false, if you get my meaning.

Good luck with the build BigGrin

Found this picture of my son back in 2005. This was a very small event in Ashton Under Lyne.

And David Prowse was there also.

I like the weathering on this R2, especially the mark from the restraining bolt.

Agree Darren,

Glad you posted this photo as this is just how I would like my R2D2 to look when it is finished. It really does look far more authentic in it's weathered condition than a pristine one may look.

I know it's not much but sanded down the seam lines on the metal parts and resprayed

Also painted the processor state indicator plate.

Looking great.

What colours did you use for the plate and the resprayed metal parts?

Thank you, Googled regards the best colour to use and Citroën Poissiden Blue came up. Just used Aluminium for the metal parts.

Nice little mod Cool

The great thing about these builds is watching how different people go about tackling theirs and what mods, if any, they do

Thank you, it's still early days yet. Re-painting and weathering is my priority at the moment. Maybe when we are about half way through, something else might need doing.
