I like the image of your son and a weathered R2D2. I think this might be the final look that I am hoping for. Do the blue parts need to be repainted ie. are the stock colors not authentic looking? I am not an expert on this particular droid and appreciate feedback on this.

Thank you.
I like the mark left from the restraining bolt. The blue plastic parts are a different shade to the painted metal parts, plus they are not shiny.
First make him look like he just come straight out of the factory and then try to make him look like he as been around for about 30 years.

Nice job on the paintwork, it's great to builders put their own mark on a project.

I think that the subscription comes in blocks of 4 so you may have to wait, but you will get issues 3,4,5 and 6. So that is going to keep you busy BigGrin

Oh man that looks quality. I will probably have to wait for issue 4 to come with 5,6 and 7 as my first delivery was issues 2 and 3.
Looking at the assembled shoulder now has me thinking whether or not to do weathering Cursing

Took some comparison pics of the trial version next to new one (trial on the left)

Every part is different in size and shape.

Spudtrooper,

From the first picture in post 27, it appears to me that the long silver component that fits into the leg part received in issue 1 is a little more crisp and detailed in the left version.

Is that just in the picture, or is the trial version of that component actually a little sharper? Which would you say is the better component?

Thanks [and loving the build so far, I'm still waiting on issue 2.]

Coser.

The test fit looks terrific. It seems as though the non trial version color has more purple in it. Is this closer to the correct color or tint? Still, its impressive.

Hi, they are both excellent quality, it might just be the picture.

Hope your issue's come soon.

Hi, the trial version I painted to test colours out. The actual model is more purple but I am painting these because I feel the colour is still not right for me.

Started do some painting.

A rub down of the plastic to give a key.

Base of Aluminium, a few coats of Citroën Posiden Blue, gave it 24 hrs to dry, then a rub down with 1200 grit and a few coats of lacquer.

I am happy with the colour and the finish BigGrin

And then I have to make my nice shiny paintwork look dirty Crying

Hi, hope everyone's builds are doing good. Still waiting on my next shipment but there has been a problem with delivery, these things happen.

The only thing I have done is repaint the white parts in plastikote satin white and the ankle detail blue.

A bit of topic but my Star Wars helmet collection is growing.

Whilst waiting for my next issue's did a bit of weathering. Not too much, a few scratches and the sandy look from ANH.

Used tamiya weathering Master set A which is sand and mud.

Very nice update.

Was also looking at those really nice helmets you are collecting. That is certainly something very unique.
Happy Modelling
