Two more dome panels repainted.

Showed the wife R2's head yesterday and she said "Why is it all scratched!" I said "That is the USED look I am trying to create" She just gave me a vacant expression!!

Just a small update.

Repainted all the dome panels, was not happy with them, also decided to use a satin gloss spray to finish them off.

I have decided to try a do ANH R2D2 but the only problem is they used 3 droid's and every one is completely different, so I am going with the Kenny Baker version.

The microphone that comes through the top panel I have left this completely blue as per Kenny's R2

The other thing I have done is on the legs there is a grove that does not continue all the way round, so I have filed a groove to complete this.

Another bit of progress, this time on the body panels.

Decided to glue and fill the joint lines.

Also repainted the the white, blue and silver parts. Done some weathering and painted one of the panels grey as seen in ANH.

That's the great thing about R2, there's no right or wrong.
Hes been around for 60 plus years.
In ANH they had three and all were different (Kenny baker's R2, radio controlled R2 and a pull along R2)

Hi,

Not done much recently apart from painted the blue and silver parts. Waiting for all the front body panels so I can fill the seam lines.

Did not like the silver showing through the front grills, so paint black to give some depth.
