Hi,

Decided to do something Regards the opening compartment doors.
I did not like the way they where proud of the body, so I have done my best to make them flush.
Just a bit of sanding and tweeting and I think will look alot better when all painted.

Thanks everyone, finally got some parts that I can start work on (painting and modifying)

Issue 84

Did not like the hollow on the back of the arms, so a piece of 1mm styrene sheet corrected this and also this made the arms sit flush with the body

Alot more happy with the way this looks

The bottom pic shows the modified bottom arm sitting flush.

A little update on R2's modified arms

These have now been painted and weathered

Now look more solid.

Also a bit of weathering and paint on the compartments (still need to do something else on them but don't know what)

Hi.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving nice comments.

Hope everyone is enjoying there R2D2 builds. I'm getting really excited now.

14 more issue's to go 😁

Finally started on the painting and weathering of the front panel.

All three sections were glued and filled to hide the joints.

Primed and painted white.

I have done two of the compartment doors, these were painted aluminium on the inside as seen in ANH.

Not built the tool arms yet, don't want to rush things.

Last two pictures from ANH shows the silver on the inside of the doors and the interface arm.

My bottom arm was catching on the body as it closed, I found that the arm was loose within the pivot mount causing it to sag.

So I stuck I piece of plasticard to the underside of the pivot mount and filed the recess slightly bigger than the original.
