Thank you for the kind words guys I am really looking forward to seeing this beauty finished although I feel I'm gonna need to go to the gym for a few workouts to lift it :):)
Moved on with my next set of issues last night so should have some photos up in a couple of days.

Here are the next stage pics including the light testing and the projection of Luke. Decided to show 2 images with the lightsaber panel open but I have decided to leave fitting the lightsaber ejector until the instructions state to do so. All nice and clean with the internals of the dome except the wires hanging around although it seems these will be sorted in a few issues. Man this thing is heavy. lholland attached the following image(s):

This was a fairly nervy moment testing the projector when added to the dome but it was great to see Luke appear after holding the button down for 2 seconds. lholland attached the following image(s):

Yay, time to get started on the body panelling and once again the trusty Starship filth plays a big role in getting my desired weathering. Trying to stave off doing too much here yet as I don't want obvious weathering lines down the seams of each panel lholland attached the following image(s):

Ok here we are with exciting times where we start to see the droid coming together with the body panelling and metal skeleton to hold it all onto. Started with the frame work this month which was pretty straight forward just had to remember to flip over one of the metal arms to ensure it was correctly fitted.

Very carefully added the pieces to make up the next body panelling including the first speaker which seems a little fiddly when pinching the wires the fit the protective casing on. There are going to be a lot of wires on this R2 unit and I want to make sure I look after every single one. lholland attached the following image(s):

Thanks Mark, I'm going to need a bigger box now to keep it all in and looking at the future build diary I can't wait to get going on the front door panel components etc. Starship filth on demand once again to enhance the lines on the body and shall add other detail later. lholland attached the following image(s):

Thank you for the kind words everybody its really starting to look almost alive now and I'm starting to get pretty excited about the finish line. This month I added parts to the metal frame for the body panels to start with which went together very nicely. lholland attached the following image(s):

More body panelling to piece together next for the front side of R2 which I pieced together first and then weathered with the starship filth. I will be adding a little more "sponge" effect weathering on the whole unit when the main panels are complete or possibly at the end of the build. Was a little concerned when I screwed a couple of the panels on the back section together to find them not lining up as well as I had hoped but I shall be keeping an eye on those when I fit the body to the frame work to see if that fixes the problem otherwise I may consider gluing the parts that are off alignment. I certainly won't be leaving them like that. Lots to do in the next few issues which should arrive next week so looking forward to that already. lholland attached the following image(s):

Thanks Mark, loving your custom build by the way! New month and new delivery and here we are suddenly up to 80 issues and almost complete. What a ride and what a cracker of a droid he is starting to look. This month had me with lots to do with detail and weathering so it was a bit more involved which was great. Carefully located all the wiring and placed in the lightsaber ejector within the dome first of all as well as the last few screws to reinforce the panels around the edging.

Next I decided to add all the parts to the metal framework included in the delivery at the some time. Pretty straight forward part to the build.
