I'm building this one for a friend who owns the real car. It's reg RKX 991. He races it frequently and it's currently in for some paintwork and a re-finish of the cockpit to put it back to factory spec. While it's off the road, it was an opportunity to get a stack of reference pictures plus correct paint samples and codes. The shell is vac formed from a wooden master - now the third one I've done. Everything else is brass and ally section, plastic, ally sheet and eventuaslly, resin castings of my own for engine parts etc. Seats are trimmed in real leather. A little bit today. Body has been fitted to the chassis (with screws for future removal) and the interior tub test-fitted. All ok there. Also, bonnet checked for fit and clearances. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks chaps. A little more done - actually, a lot of work but little to see. It's taken an age to trim and fettle the main cockpit tub so it fits inside the body nice and neatly. Now installed but still a lot to do on the interior. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Last bit for today. I spent around an hour making 5 little spark plugs to go in the cockpit. Wrapping the home made decals around each one took most of the time. Each plug is about 5mm long... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

This is very impressive Roy. Was there any machining involved or are they built of some stuff you had laying around? BTW, what printer are you using for decals - and could you recommend a good decal film if it's a laser printer? Cheers Michu Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
Happy building :-) http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hello Michu.
The plugs were made from bits and bobs in a scrap tin. A dress pin, plastic tube in 2 sizes, and a tiny nut. The decals were printed on a really good inkjet:
HP 447DW
It's not a cheap printer, but there are some a lot dearer. Quality is stunning. You can see in the pics that the 'Champion' text is perfectly readable and sharp. It's around half a mm high.
I also have an HP Laserjet pro 300 and tried it for decal printing - nowhere near the quality and resolution.
I get my decal paper in bulk (min 100 sheets) as I print lots of decals for others. It's direct from good old Japan. I have used stuff from Ebay at times and TBH it's very good but more expensive than my bulk buying.

Again, a wee bit more today. Inner door panel on the driver side, and the left side of the dash. All of this is based on photo's of the real car I'm modelling. Onward and upward, as they say... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks chaps. Another small but time consuming bit today. The dash panel is almost sorted and will actually be fitted further down the line when some other interior parts are added. All good fun. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Just a bit today. It's the small stuff that seems to take an age. I've weathered the seats down a bit to look more like those in the real car. Remember, it's nearly 65 years old... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
