Hi All, BigGrin

Thanks to everyone who`s looked in/or left comments, it is appreciated.

Unfortunately, the only update at the moment is more cobble stones.Crying

The running total is now up to 465, but the end is in sight. (Sort of)

When the cobbles are finished I have the kerb stones to do and then if that`s not enough, it`s paving slabs. Thankfully not in the same volume as the cobbles. LOL

Latest pic below;

Happy building BigGrin

Hi All, BigGrin

Thanks to all those who looked in. Cool Cool

Well I`ve reached a milestone with this build.

Blink Blink Blink

634 cobble stones in place. Woo Hoo. LOL (See Pic)

Next job is to put the kerb stones in place and for that task I`ll be breaking out some of my new proxxon tools. To that end I`ll also give you a report on how they handle the job.

Until then "Happy Building" Love

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

Thanks to all who looked in and for the fab comments. Cool

A little longer than I hoped, I`ve got a small update for you.(Other things taking over top spot for my attention Blink )

The next job was to make and lay the kerb stones.

I`ve made them and have a pic of how they will be laid, but not fixed yet.

So pic one:

The Proxxon chop saw: An amazing piece of kit, extremely well made with quality materials and every feature you could want, including safety lock and moving blade cover.

Without any real effort I cut 36 blocks, 25mm long and using a vernier gauge I can tell you there is a difference in length of no more than 0.2mm.

Pic 2: A block that has had a very slight tickle on the cut edges with a very fine sand paper.

Pic 3: Each kerb stone has the edges at each end chamfered very slightly so I used my Proxxon disc sander. Another well made tool, that has a speed control system that allows very slow speed for detailed work and is very quiet when in use.

Pic 4: A kerb stone with the end edges chamferred.

Pic 5: Several kerb stones laid, but not fixed yet. These are set slightly higher than the pavement behind them as paving stones will be laid to bring everything level. (More on that at a later stage.

My thoughts and observations on the Proxxon tools are purely my personnal ones, but in my case I`d say it was money well spent for quality and accuracy.

Happy building

Very nice update Derek.

I very much like the look of your sander and its something in the future i will look to get as i like the tilting table allowing the chamferring option.

Hope it all continues well - certainly looking good at the moment i must say BigGrin

Will be a nice display once its alltogether.

Thanks to Tony, Al and AR for your comments and all who looked in.

Cool Cool Cool

Got a small amount done today, whilst other things were setting (so to speak).

Pic 1: I`ve fitted all the kerb stones, but where the two stones are highlighted, the instructions said to make it one piece. I found this a bit odd as it would look out of place, so took a little more time and made two.
A better look I think.

Pic 2: An addition to the road detail is a drain cover. This will be in for a bit of weathering at a later stage.

Pic 3: A start made on the pavements. Markings can be seen where a couple of service covers will be positioned.

Pic 4: An overall view of where the dio base is now.

Happy Building
