Just a case of inserting the centre rotor pin & attaching the faceplate to the rear upright - no extra limbs required this timeLOL

Part 21 & 22:

I decided to combine 21 & 22 into one post As they are all part of the engine. Just needed to be careful to glue the parts to the engine block, not fingers & as always, lubricate screws with Vaseline before use ThumpUp

Another double episode again, as there was not a huge amount to do.

Part 25 to 28:

Impatience got the better of me this time, so I completed all 4 issues in one goBlushing
Oh well, only 3 weeks to waitDrool

Is it just me, or did anyone else end up with quite a few black 'E' screws left - certainly a lot more than the usual 1 spare per issue?Confused
Anyway, fairly straight forward, although I nearly had a bit of a gluing mishap - as the picture in the instructions is a little misleading on where the ABS glue needs applying on the tension rod diffuser.
It is a shame this delivery didn't include issue 29, then i could have completed the rear suspensionCrying

BigGrin Hi Jerry,

All looking very cool and making good progress with the build mate!! ThumpUp Wait until you get the suspension all completed, you will love it, when it feels like you are finally building something that looks like a car !!! And yes, I had extra screws left, I would just keep them as spares for now. BigGrin

Part 29 to 32:

Sorry I have not posted for a while, I have been pretty busy & just not had time to do anything with either build for weeks.
Now that I have, I completed all 4 issues again, otherwise I will still be behind. Now that the rear suspension is added to the gearbox, you start to get a better idea of the size of this thing - it is going to look awesome Drool
I have also included a few photos of everything built so far, beside a complete 1:18 scale McLaren for reference

Roll on the next delivery & hopefully some time in-between to attack the DB5 Unsure

Part33 to 35:

Hey guys, back with the next 'delayed' instalment Blushing
I am only doing the last 3 parts of the engine this time, so I will leave the next 5 parts - the underbody, as one big section. I have received the main underbody parts, boy are they huge - it really helps you to understand how BIG this is going to be - much better perspective that just laying the parts over a poster. I test fitted the engine assembly to the underbody & then added the tail as well - looks great. BigGrin
There are no major gotcha's to report in this set, though I did sand & re-paint the silver top of the cowl, as the join wasn't great. The foil was easy enough, though I did cover more of the cowl base than De-Ag instructed, as some photo's I have seen, certainly indicate there is more than we have. I also have a minor addition in mind, just need to source the right parts - watch this space Cool

Small Engine Mod:

I noticed when googling some images of the Mercedes engine in the McLaren there is some extra gold heat shielding in the head grooves (covering plugs I assume). As these are just empty in the model, I decided to include some special 'Ferrero Rocher' detailing to improve the look of the engine, making it look less bare. I reused some of the plastic sprue from the magazine binder pins - cut to size & covered in foil, then glued in place. I think it would have matched in better with the same foil as supplied by De-Ag, so if anyone knows where this can be bought, please let me know. But still looks OK
Cool

BigGrin Hi Jerry,

A nice little mod and something I intend to add to my engine when I can find time to get back on the build (very busy with other work at the moment) along with a few other touches. Regards the gold foil, some sweet wrappers have a similar foil, particularly things like toffees and I seem to remember 'Toffee Eclairs' used to have some very useful shiny gold foil beneath the outer wrapper ?? Well done you for trying the mod - good stuff !!

BigGrin Kev
