USS Constitution (or "Old Ironsides" as she is more commonly known) is a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy, named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States of America.
Retired from active service in 1881, Constitution served as a receiving ship until designated a museum ship in 1907. In 1934 she completed a three-year, 90-port tour of the nation. Constitution sailed under her own power for her 200th birthday in 1997, and again in August 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of her victory over Guerriere.
"Old Ironsides" is a living monument and is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat.

The museum in Boston where the Constitution is moored has some amazing large scale ship models too.

I would certainly consider a subscription to this one. Its a great era so if the magazines follow the SofS and Victory there would be some great history to read about. I have a Billings version of this one in store but it seems lacking. This model looks very nicely detailed. Happy Modelling

Jason The Shipways kit is not an easy kit to build even experienced ship modellers, which Karl1113 intimated during his build of the Shipways kit, also the plans measurements are imperial

Jason The Shipways kit is not an easy kit to build even by the experienced ship modeller which Karl intimates during his build, also the plans measurements are imperial I have a model shipways kit and I can certainly confirm that it is tricky to work through and why I hope this constitution is released soon, if it looks all but the same and same scale but has the ussual DeAg qulity instructions then its got to be a winner “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

Do you plan to also release this in the Colonies?
Wasn't it first designated as the USF Constitution (United States Frigate)? The Smithsonian has a very detailed set of plans also. I don't know if they are still available. Mine date to the 1970's, blueprint presentation, and badly faded. They were taken off at the time of a 1920's restoration I believe.
The box art is interesting. So many ship models are shown with its national flag flying astern but with a full set of sails looking as she is running before the wind. This one seems to look as she is working against the wind so the flag flys correctly. Well done.
On the other hand I also find a model with a full set of blown sails without any crew portrayed as amusing. Does the kit provide rigging instructions for display with standing rigging, spars lowered, etc?
Not an expert.

Yes it will be made available to the US market. It's instructions only cater for running rigging (with sails).
