It's not much different to being without Carrier capability for years on end awaiting the the arrival of the planned replacement.
What is shocking is the decommissioning in 2018 of the Royal Navy Flagship HMS Ocean and no replacement planned. Which is a helicopter carrier ship, designed to support amphibious landing operations. In effect it's a Navy loss.
