Well, the big C Type is all but done and I'm planning the next biggie. In the meantime, the other end of the scale. A little 1/32 Airfix Ford 3 ltr GT. A truly gorgeous car. I'm going to add a few small extra details as the kit is seriously basic but the whole point is for it to be a fun, quick build... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Sorry for the slow updates but it's been a little 'fill-in' project. The interior has been painted and assembled. Next up, I lined the inside of the upper body shell with masking tape and then drew around the window openings with a fine marker pen. The tape was peeled out and then cut up to make window masks. By cutting just inside the black line, I was left with masks marginally smaller than the windows. Once in place and the outer surface covered over, the windows had 3-4 mist coats of black. Tape off, and we have nice black framed windows. The interior was fitted, and then the shell assembled. Joins were filled and smoothed where required. The windows were then masked and the whole thing sprayed red. Decals are in place and after a couple of days drying, I'll clear coat it and take off the masking on the windows... That's a lovely one Roy and another car I really do like. Some place or other I have the Fujimi version of this one set aside for the day I finally have more time on my hands than I know what to do with Always fancied the large scale trumpeter version of the same but not sure I could do it the justice it deserves. Interesting watching you put this one together. Happy Modelling

Didn't know Trumpeter had ever done this one. I know they've done the GT40 - built it. Lovely kit.

Well, here's my GT40... And before anyone comments, yes, it's WRONG. There never was a Gulf Mk2 GT40. However, I like the scheme - hence my own car... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Tony.
I'm tempted to get another Trumpeter GT40 as now nearly 3 years later, I look at my build and see umpteen bits that could be so much better.
Roy.

This little'un is a fill-in while I'm awaiting bits for the big Ducati. Body clear coated and masking tape off the windows. Lots of detail painting needed and then wheels etc... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

All finished. This little thing has been sitting near my bench for weeks 'nearly' done. Sadly, it's such a grotty old kit, I lost interest in it. However, all finished. The end result is quite a nice little model, but it's a chore to build. Anyone asking for 'old tool' Airfix cars to come out again, count me out. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well it does look very nice roy. I think we are very spoilt these days with the quality of models available but it does show what we had to work with in the old days Its quite interesting to see how things move on over the years. I picked up an old copy of finescale modeller dated April 1987 for an article on the css hunley, and its amazing how build techniques have changed. In those days there were no pigments, no pre-shading or any of the sort of things we see now. I think the closest it gets to modern techniques is the mention of dry brushing in one of the build articles. Still i am going off at another tangent but well done again on a nice model. Happy Modelling
