This monster just landed on my mat. The pictures don't really show just how HUGE this box is. I'm going to have a bash - "Build of the Year 2017 entry" Koo DVD on the way and maybe the scale hardware set - then it will be in at the deep end. I'm actually not in the least into bikes, but I fancied this kit when it was first released as it's different to what I usually do - cars. I'll be trawling the other Ducati threads now for hints and tips. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

That is a very big box Roy. Is this a commision piece you are building for someone because if so they are in for a treat. Insaw one of these made up in the pocher cabinet in the hornby hobbies shop here in swindon at christmas time and it certainly is a beautiful model that is for sure. Hope you get lots of fun from your build. Happy Modelling

Thanks Tony.
No, this one is for me so it will be a change not to be under any kind of pressure, or expectations. In fact - horror of horrors - I'm tempted just to build it almost OOB. I say almost, as I'll add bits according to the Koo DVD, and paint bits needing paint.

Hello Tony. Yes, I'll be posting a diary. It might be a week or so before I get into it - just ordered the scale hardware set. So much for OOB...

After a bit of juggling around in my cave, I've got the box in. I'll prob have to cut the top flaps off the white inner box as when they are open, the contents is quite difficult to get at and will be more so when I want stuff from the bottom of the box. Hello there. My F40 is just the 1/12 Revell kit. I added loads of extra bits to the engine area and interior as it's quite a basic kit really. A fun build though. Roy File Attachment(s): roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Sorry - 1st pic was too big so won't open. I've re-sized it. It's a nice kit, but very simple. Also, quite a few bits that are wrong, including the undersize rear tyres. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

OK... First major problem.
The sheer number of sprues and parts!
I remember building the 1/8 Heller Traction Avant around 18 months ago and finding that locating a part among 40+ sprues was a nightmare in itself.
The Ducati is just as bad, but in some ways even worse as the box contents is in several layers meaning you virtually have to empty the box all over the floor to locate one part that will inevitably be in the bottom.
I'm going to add BIG sticky labels to each sprue bag stating which sprue is inside. It should make finding part 'N33' for example, much easier when all I need to do is find the bag labelled with a big 'N'.
