Hi, I'm going to be starting my first (and probably last ) ship build http://forum.model-space...amp;m=239388#post239388
So I spent a bit of time this afternoon looking at some youtube vids and one of them posted a link to a tutorial website it looks as though it could be very good for me but there is a subscription charge of $45 does anyone know this site? http://shipmodeling.ca/aa10077.html#re
BTW I have no idea if this is the right area of the forum to ask this - if not let me know and I'll move it May.

Can't say I've seen this before, seems to offer nothing more than what can be obtained off YouTube for free, via books or guidance from ship modellers.
This book is useful: https://www.amazon.co.uk...ID=Y6ATE8SMS7FEEE5SJX06
As is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk...ID=7NDERAHVM34519KS3RXB

Hi May I have never payed for tutorials on YouTube as their are loads of stuff out there for free plus if you look at the official build videos on Model Space it gives you lots of techniques which you can use on any ship build Hope this helps rgd Martyn Building ? Hi May
Can't say I know of the site you have linked to but I wouldn't part with my cash on subscribing to this or any other site, especially where our own site has all the information you need to help you along with your builds. There is also the wealth of knowledge and experience from the members to tap into on demand plus all the free information elsewhere on the web. Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere.....
Regards
Alan

May I do remember some many moons ago someone posted a link on here to a guide that is published on the Model Ship World website that you may find of interest. Could not find the link on here so have had a search and here it is. The document is in pdf format and i must admit to finding it useful along with all the great hints and tips you can find on this forum. http://modelshipworldfor...ingprojectbeginners.pdf
Just bear in mind it does not replace the kit instructions for the model you choose but might help in adding a bit of extra detail to your build knowledge. Happy Modelling

Hi, Thank you Tony that's bound to come in useful, I've spent most of the afternoon on youtube looking at various vids including those of the official builds, I'm slowly getting an idea of what's involved - it will be a challenge there's no doubt about that May.

May One of the best bits of advice i think is to remember "its not a race". Build at a speed you are happy with, don't see it as a competition having to keep you with more experienced builders, and treat every part of the build as a mini project in its own right rather than looking at the overall as that can be daunting, and I think you will get on just fine. I was pleased to see this kit appear but have not made my mind up now due to other issues i have been having. If if follows the lines of the victory and sovereign of the seas then you can expect some brilliant reading in the magazines that come with the model parts. Those two kits had some brilliant history in the magazines i would say were better than any book you might buy. Wish you all the very best with your next venture Happy Modelling

Hi, Thank you Tony Yes unlike the other two builds I'm involved with, I'll be hanging back a few deliveries until I get started so I can learn of the experienced members diaries before making a mess of things. I've been waiting all of my life to get hold of one of these ships so time means nothing to me if I'm still building her long after the collection has finished then so be it I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing issues I'm having sub issues myself at the moment with both Deagostini and Eaglemoss but I'm sure it will get sorted out soon enough.... well that's the hope anyway May.
