Some pictures from the festival on this Bank Holiday weekend. Jaguar is the featured marque. Many more cars of all vintages are on display. Anyone know why some E-Types have two wipers and others three? AlecK attached the following image(s): Happy modelling

The 2 or 3 wipers was all down to William Lyons.
When the E Type was launched there were only 2 models. FHC, and OTS. (fixed head, open top) They both had the same low, wide screen which needed 3 wipers to sweep the width. Both were 2 seater only.
Then, along came the USA who wanted an E Type to rival the Mustang - ie: 2+2. Good old William didn't want to spend money without good cause so insisted the 2+2 used the same tailgate as the FHC 2 seater, making the back seat head room limited so the roof at the rear was 'lifted', spoiling the lines of the car. To help compensate, they shifted the bottom of the front screen forwards to just behind the bonnet line, creating a deeper screen which only needed 2 wipers to sweep it.
SO...
Series 2 2+2 cars have two wipers, whereas all Series 1 and 2 short wheelbase cars (FHC and OTS) have three wipers, as do Series 1 2+2 cars.
Make sense?...???

I don't think it's aimed at anyone in particular. I'm guessing it's just a pun about all the waffle that's been posted regarding the model wheels.
