It has been discussed in various other threads, that the way the guns are tackled per instructions is far from correct. As i spent much time with research about this topic i`d like to provide this tutorial – maybe some modellers can benefit from it. This is not to say that my solution is historically correct – but at least i think it is an improvement.
So at the beginning i would like to list the additional items i purchased for this build:
2mm eyebolts 3mm eyebolts 3mm brass rings 3mm single blocks 3mm double blocks 0,25mm thread (good quality)for the tackles 0,1mm thread 0,75mm thread for the breeching ropes very small diameter black thread for the bindings
Greetings, Walter

Preparing the guns:Drill an additional hole for the breeching rope guide (0,7mm)Then connect an 3mm brass ring with a 2mm eyebolt and glue it into the hole you just drilled.DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Preparing the hull:Regarding the positioning of the holes i went with the instructions of the cross-section:The upper ones about 11mm from the bottom of the gun port and 6mm to the side, the lower ones 5mm and 4mm respectively. I used a 0,8 drill.DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Making the breeching ropes:For the breeching ropes i used good quality 0,75mm thread.
First i attached a 3mm brass ring to a 3mm eyebolt and clamped it into my mini-vice (fishermen use these for making their flies - i bought mine on ebay).
I cut 13cm of thread, threaded it through the brass ring, made a little loop and secured it with super glue. With the small diameter black thread i made a binding. Then you have to thread the free end of the breeching rope through the brass ring you previously attached to the gun - then through the little ring on the top of the gun - and finally through the brass ring on the other side.
Then again clamp a 3mm eyebolt in the vice, attach a brass ring and repeat the aforementioned procedure with the second end of the rope.Tomorrow i`ll continue with the tackles.DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Making the tackles:First clean all holes of the blocks with a 0,9mm drill.
Put a 2mm eyebolt into the vice. Then cut about 16cm of the 0,25 thread and put it through the eyebolt with an excess lenght of about 4 cm on the other side - then secure it with two knots and a little bit of super glue.
Knot a single-block to the eyebolt - again secure it with super glue and cut the excess length. For the other end of the tackle (which will be attached to the hull) i used 0,1mm thread. This time put a 3mm eyebolt into the vice - then knot a double-block to the eyebolt. Now take the thread attached to the single-block and stiffen the end with some super glue. Then thread the end through the hole of the double-block, which will be nearer to the cannon - next it goes through the hole of the single block - then through the outside hole of the double-block.DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Thanks guys for your nice comments and i'm happy that there are some fellow builders who can use this for their progress - so it's worth the effort!
But we are not done yet - the thread will be continued on monday!Greetings, Walter

Placing the gun on the deck:Put tiny drops of super glue on the wheels of the gun carriage and place the gun on the deck. Then secure it with two nails, shich you put through the vertikal holes in the carriage (i drilled them with a o,9mm drill).
Then glue the eyebolts of the breeching ropes in place.
The rope is formed to a loop and carefully secured to the deck with a little bit of super glue. Now you can attach the tackles on both sides. If you look carefully you will notice that the breeching ropes aren`t always placed in the same manner on the various pics - this is because this was learning by doing for me and i also had to find a way i liked it most. In my building log you can see that the starboard side of my cannons looks quite different to the port side as my knowledge and skill progressed during the work!DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Preparing and attaching the Training tackles:If you want to install training tackles you will have to attach a double block to a 2mm eyebolt (which will eventually be glued into the rear hole of the gun).
The other side of the tackle consists of a 3mm eyebolt, a 3mm brass ring and a single-block.
Build the tackle in the same manner as described in the previous post.
Drill the holes for the 3mm eyebolt about 5-6mm from the gratings into the deck and attach the tackle.DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Adding rope coils:I don`t know if there were coils in a combat Situation but as you can see in my build log i did not add coils on one side but did so on the other side - and i must admit it looks a lot tidier with the coils.
I just put a stripe of double sided tape on my desk and carefully formed the coils. I covered them with diluted wood glue. When dry i attached them to the deck putting the cutted thread from the tackles under the coil.So that`s the end of this tutorial - i hope you enjoyed it!DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter
