Hi all, for those that remember me saying I wont be starting a new kit until all my current ones are done.....well ignore that I have quite a few beetle and camper kits in my stash so thought I could use them as an all in one project/diary. I will be setting them in a restoration type workshop setting in various states of repair. First up is the 1966 Tamiya offering. I started this 2 weeks ago so the pics below show it almost complete. The look for this one is a well cared for restored example, although not to original spec - the colour is not standard and has no bumpers - the front quarter lights are also removed as in an electric window conversion. Its basically modelled on a real 1968 1300cc that I owned until recently. The kit was bought a long time ago in a used state, the body shell looks like it might have been used as a paint test shell as there were loads of layers of paint to remove. The first couple of pics show the shell after 24 hours soaking in brake fluid and then scrubbed with a toothbrush to get every layer off. The rest of the kit was untouched. I then painted the shell in Tamiya candy lime green with a pearl clear coat on top. BTW, the engine will be built but will be displayed separately in the workshop, this car is going to look as if it already has an engine ...if I can find a way to fit the exhaust tailpipes without an actual exhaust to fit them to! The rest of the pics show the kit up to where I am tonight. I will be posting all the kits on this one diary stevie_o attached the following image(s):

That looks very nice indeed and especially neat that you were able to recover so well from a part started kit. Happy Modelling
