Hello
I'm french enthousiaste of old boat building, i'm not building right now the soleil royal but i had the all number brought in france some year's ago and i plan to build it soon.
i look the build diary on youtube it's very interesting for me but i have a question
When they show fixing plank on the bulkhead the second coat on the first the plank seem to be sticked instantly like on a tape ?
can you tell me which kind of glue used on the video ( the pack 7, stage 75 by example ) ?
Thanks in advance
Regards from France

Hi Khan-dam Welcome to the forum. The glue I used on the build for the second planks is Evo-Stik impact adhesive. You spread the glue on on the surfaces thinly. Allow to become touch dry then carefully stick together. The only problem is you have one chance to stick it down as once together you can't move it. There is a different version called Timebond which does give some movement after pressed together. If you do try out these glues I suggest you try on scrap wood so you get the hang of its capabilities. Always use this glue in well ventilated area as it is very strong. PS there is a solvent free version. Don't bother as it isn't strong enough. You would be better in a tube for better control. The spray can is really for big areas and pieces. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Another option you have is to just use wood glue (very thin due to the material strength of the veneer) let it dry for a minute than attach the veneer to the hull. It will hold in place by itself but is still correctible for a short while.
