My new 3d printer arrived. It is a beast weighing in at 138 pounds. It has a 12 inch by 12 inch by 12 inch print volume and has a resolution of down to 10 microns on the z axis and 12.5 on the x/y. Here is a video of it in action. This piece was printed at 0.25mm resolution and it took 5 hours to print the part. The part is for a full size 3d printed R2 D2.It will take several months to print this because it is split up into hundreds of pieces. https://youtu.be/u2OlPAiVNHA

It was a 5 hour print. The part is probably 8 inches by 6 inches by 1 inch tall.
This was on the lower resolution setting. The highest would have taken 8 hours.

Regards Mark It is quite mesmerising watching it go back and forth.I have a friend that has the bigger version of this printer and his last print was 72 hours long!! It was part of a wheel for a Mars Curiosity rover 1:1 display piece. Carl

I was looking at the prices for these printers It is a very nice piece of equipment though and the quality is superb. Some of the stuff I have received from Shapeways isn't as this good a quality as what you picture shows. How smooth is it? Some of the parts I have bought are terribly rough. I have always wanted to learn how to do this but the cost and space is somewhat prohibitive. Hope you have lots of fun with it. Best Regards, Ron

Its pretty smooth on the 0.25 mm setting. You would still need a bit of sanding to make it really smooth.I havent tried anything on the 0.1mm setting .Apparently on that setting it is really smooth.

I found a 3d model of the Mars Curiosity Rover put out by NASA .It is quite a large model and well detailed.I figured it would be a good test for the Raise 3d on it highest detail setting. So here is a print of one wheel and tire at 0.1mm resolution. The detail is very crisp and it doesnt need much in the way of sanding before painting.it took about 2 hours to print the wheel and tire. darbyvet attached the following image(s):
