Aloha! As a multimedia artist based in Honolulu, my current area of focus is designing contemporary Yoroi (Samurai armor). Rather than creating replicas or works of Sci-Fi or fantasy, I base my designs on historical armor to portray the possible evolution of the Yoroi. I imagine how the armor designs would have evolved had the Samurai class continued into modern times. You can find pictures of some of my works on my website: www.russogi.comAs the basis for my designs, I do a lot of reading on traditional Yoroi. When I have the chance, I visit armor collections and take detailed pictures to add to my personal reference library. When I came across the DeAgostini ½ scale Samurai Armour kit, I thought it would be a great way to get first hand experience of some of the craftsmanship that went into the traditional Yoroi. Growing up, I built scale models of cars, jets and Sci-Fi kits. I haven't built a kit in quite a few years, partially due to a lack of time from my work schedule and floor space to display my finished models. Since the DeAgostini kit ties into my work it's a great excuse for me to tap into my inner model maker again. While I'm waiting to begin, I've been reading some of the build diaries. They've been really informative. Looking forward to getting started. Thanks for reading. A hui hou!

Welcome to the forum ZetaForge. Good luck with your build. Are you going to modernize it in any way or build it straight up. I hear its a great kit but I can't sew very well so I shied away from it. Looking forward to seeing your build here and there are lots of great artists here who can help you if you get stuck. Best Regards, Ron

Very cool stuff there ZetaForge. Are you planning to post a build diary as you build? This is one of those kits I would never build but enjoy watching other build. DeAgostini kit builds:
Millennium Falcon: 18% Complete Shelby GT-500: 28% Complete Thunderbird 2: 13.75% Complete

@Nytetrain - Thank you for the well wishes.
I have thought about doing some sort of modification to the build. I saw stevie_o working on an amazing weathered repaint. But, currently I plan on a straight build focused on learning more about the construction of traditional armor.
I'm buying it as a full kit so I probably won't build it in order of the packs and stages.
Sewing is not one of my strong suits either so that's a bit intimidating.
And yes, from reading some of the posts, lots of great talent in the forum.
@Metal Mech - Thank you for the kind words.
I am planning a build diary. I'm not very good at build diaries though. I get so focused on doing that it's the end of the day before I realize, I should have taken some "in progress" pictures.
I'm also thinking of posting some of my thoughts about specific differences between my designs and traditional armor or other tid bits of information on my personal blog as a supplement to my build diary.

Thank you to everyone for all the welcome messages. Apologies for the delay in response.
I have been recovering from shingles. I'm past the majority of the pain but fatigue sets in quickly. So, it takes me much longer to do things.
There are good days and bad days, and so, my posts may be sporadic for the time being.
I do plan on a build diary but, with so many great and comprehensive build diaries already up, I am thinking of ways I can make my content different but meaningful to the forum.
I'm thinking I'll skip over a lot of the build that just follows the instructions and point out any modifications or special techniques that I used along the way. I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions.
I'll focus on the actual build here in the forum, and will definitely include a link to the supplemental information on my personal blog like my thoughts on traditional armor construction and design and how it compares to/influencs or may influence my designs.
All the best.
