WTG Regards delboy271155 (Derek) Thanks Derek, I hope not, but I didn't lay the planks too tightly in some places and so there are a few large gaps. For some reason, it looks better in the images than it does on the bench. The instructions want us to put a thin layer of filler all over and then sand down again, but I think that would make unnecessary work.

Quick update on the HERMIONE build: STAGE 13Hello again, This weekend I've started on the filling of the hull. I'm using a new product to me called 'red devil OneTime lightweight filler' (see link below). Have to see how I get on with it. fillerI've gone over the hull for the first time with it and will sand it down again tomorrow. It will then be ready for its first coat of primer which will show up any more imperfections which need either filling up or sanding. More on this to follow. Thanks for looking in guys, your comments are welcome.
@Martyn and Graeme. I was using the 'cheap & cheerful' alternatives but thought I'd give a 'specialist' filler a try. It is indeed much lighter than I was used to and it is much finer and filled the smaller gaps much easier but time will tell once it's been sanded and primed.
I'm looking forward to getting the primer on but I have yet to get out and buy any.
My partner seems to be using her car more and more these days and getting to my local model shop is proving difficult for me (the closest is a half-hour drive from me). I know what you're going to say, - why not buy it online? - but I want to purchase some yellow paint as well, and I can't get a perfect match from the online catalogues, so the model shop seems a good option for me being able to compare different shades with it in my hands so to speak.
I'll let you all know how I get on.

Hi David. I think I am slightly in advance of you with the hull build and and have just come against a problem which I don't think is of my making. I am about to start on stage 17 which requires the use of a scraper shown in image 120. I had ordered a scraper set but on investigation the correct shape was not present on the scrapers I had been sent. After long discussions with one of the customer help staff we realised that there are two scraper sets available, 17000 and 17001. Nowhere could I see an option on the purchasing web site to select between these different versions and I had been sent the wrong one for this particular stage. It would appear from the notes relating to this stage that it may be necessary to have both sets. Does anyone know if both scraper sets are necessary for Hermoine ? Hope the sanding down and painting goes well. Norman clockmaker attached the following image(s):

Norman Hi Clockmaker, I see Gandale is looking into this for you but for my part, I cannot say for certain if both sets are required for the 'Hermione' as I haven't yet reached the stage of using them. However, I played it safe and ordered both sets direct from the Artesania Latina website shop.
Can I say how much I admire your paint job, it looks great.
PS: Maybe you could tell me what colour yellow you used on the hull, as it really works well, and I can't seem to find a shade that matches the colour on the full-size poster included in the kit?
I look forward to seeing more of your build on here as I'm sure others would as well.

Hi David.
Thanks for comments on painting. Normally I make a mess of painting. Was very pleased how it came.
I used the Admiralty range of water based paints obtained from Cornwall Model Boats. The yellow is their yellow ochre.
I brush painted the white and yellow but air-brushed the black and blue as I though there would be less chance of bleeding under the masking tape.
Thanks for the Artesania Latina web site info. Found what I wanted. Much more comprehensive site.

Norman. Your'e welcome Norman. Thanks for the 'heads up' on the paint. I thought yellow ochre would be too dark but looking at your picture it seems fine. I'm hoping to get out this afternoon to buy my primer so I can get on with finishing the hull.

Alan Having looked into this I can confirm if you wish to create the mouldings on the various strips of wood on this build then you will need both sets of Artesania Microshapers, as recommended as an optional extra in Stage 17 of the build instructions. (Artesania Ref 27300 and 27301. The tools web page is presently being looked at and members will be updated as soon as information is forthcoming.
