Any one know what color paint is on the die cast leg part ? I cleaned up some cast lines didn't know it was painted . Thanks

Hi Calton If you take a look at the custom build log here, you will see I have painted all the parts and show which paints to use. For the silver parts, I too have taken off the seam line, primed and the painted with Rustoleum metallic silver. Hope that helps, here is the link. http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=21896

Regards Mark Hi Mark, first I have to say thank you for logging all your paint work. It's gorgeous. I have a question for you. What are the stock numbers for the blue and purple Tamiya paint you are using? I can't read them in the picture. Are you using Tamiya primer too? I get my first set of issues this coming week and would like to order the correct paints. Thank you. Matt

Hi Matt Here are the pictures of the tops of the Tamiya paints. I am using Rust-oleum surface primer. Just a tip, allow the silver paint to dry for at least 48 hours before applying the blue and purple paint. Then again allow these to dry before putting on the gloss varnish. Mark Thanks Mark. How many cans do you think we need of the blue and purple? I have been researching paints and the Rust oleum satin white and silver that you use are not available in the US. What is available is kylon maxx satin white and Metallic Silver. I have used the their flat black for light blocking the falcon. It worked well. So to get this right I need to do these steps? Blue parts. 1a adhesion promoter 1b Primer 2 metallic silver 3 mask 4 tamyia Purlple 5 tamyia metallic Blue 6 clear gloss White parts 1a adhesion promoter 1b Primer 2 metallic silver 3 mask 4 satin white Thanks for your time

I’m supprised you can’t get hold of the Rust-oleum paint as they are usually available from Amazon and are a US paint. As for how many cans of blue and purple you need, I’m not sure, I have bought quite a few, but will probably need more to complete. When painting the blue parts, I only use the adhesion promoter on the metal pieces. Primer Silver Purple Blue Purple again, light coat Then varnish Just make sure you use the same combination all the time so they look the same. As for the silver and white, if you can’t get any Rustoleum paints, then a good satin white will do and a metallic silver should be fine. The one you have seen should work fine. Hope that helps My method was all trial and error but seems to work and give a good result, although quite long winded. I would recommend you try it out first on a trial piece, so you know how it all comes together. Regards Mark

The rust oleum that you use is listed at $56 a can on Amazon. I can get other Rust oleum.

Wow, that’s expensive, I think I paid £9, about $7 maybe $8 in your money. I would use another if I was you. Regards Mark

On a side note, does anyone know what colour blue de agostini have used on the metal parts? Im asking for a friend, as the blue stripe on his dome dosent quite go all the way around and its a bit of a mess right at the front. He dosent want to have to paint everything a different colour, so just wondering what colour to use to blend it back in as best as possible Building:

The blue is a specific blend which is not openly available as a match though he might find something close.
