Issue 26

Contents: Left-hand lower brace,  right-hand lower brace,Steering rack mounting bracket,Oil filter, screws.

Take the assembly from Stage 25, align the steering rack mounting bracket with the front crossmember of the subframe matching up the lugs and holes. Then drive a single screw through the central hole to secure the bracket.
Take the left-hand lower brace, which is identified with an ‘L’, and feed the end of the brace between the lower left-hand wishbone and the bottom of the subframe .Fit the hole at the tip over the hole in the front crossmember with the joint between the brace and the side of the subframe interlocking then drive a screw into the hole to secure the brace

This issue is now complete. Store the assembly and any unused parts in an issue labelled bag.

Issue 27

Contents: Right suspension upright, Disc brake, Caliper, Suspension bushes, Shock absorber shroud, Coil spring, Damper body, Pivot pin, Screws.

Holding the disc brake and caliper as shown, slip the caliper over the edge of the disc and fit the assembly onto the central spindle of the suspension upright, ensuring the locating pin fits into the locating hole on the caliper. Then screw the upright to the caliper.

To fit the brake assembly to the subframe you completed in Stage 26, align the hole and the pin on the upright with the ends of the upper and lower right-hand wishbones, fit the wishbones onto the pin and into the hole, and hold the assembly together. Fit a suspension bush over the hole in the tip of the upper wishbone and secure the bush to the suspension upright with a screw. Do not overtighten the screw, as the upright must be free to turn.Fit another suspension bush over the hole in the tip of the lower wishbone and secure the bush to the suspension upright with a screw. Do not overtighten the screw, as the upright must be free to turn.

Fit the eye on the end of the shock absorber shroud into the bracket projecting from the front crossmember and fit the smooth end of the pivot pin into the hole, making sure it goes through the eye of the shock absorber shroud. Carefully press the pivot pin into the hole, so that the splines lock it in place and place the coil spring into the shroud. Taking care that the spring doesn’t fall out, fit the damper body inside the shroud until it sits on the spring. Gently compress the spring to shorten the shock absorber until you can fit the eye of the damper body over the pin on the lower wishbone. Secure the shock absorber to the lower wishbone with a screw. Do not overtighten the screw.
The suspension should have a small amount of up-and down movement and the disc should swivel.

This issue is now complete. Store the assembly and any unused parts in an issue labelled bag.

Issue 29

Contents: Sump, torsion bar assembly.

Align the two parts and fit the three prongs on the end of the torsion bar assembly
into the slot on the end of the sump.Pressing the parts together firmly,the
prongs will spring in to lock the assembly in place and the torsion bars will line up with the sump.

Issue 30

Contents: Radiator header tank, header tank support, fan motor assembly, cooling fan,hose, filler cap, screws.

Fit the fan onto the motor shaft and secure with a screw.Fit the header tank onto its support by lining up the round
pillar inside the tank with the matching socket and pressing together firmly and fitting a screw.
Line up the two holes in the fan motor assembly bracket with the holes in the tank support, making sure you have the parts the correct way round.Press the parts together and drive two screws in to secure the assembly.
Line up the filler cap with the header tank and press the cap into place.
