BigGrin Hi All

With all the painting going on on my other builds right now I started to make this whilst waiting for paint to dryLOL . This wont be a fast build as it more of a side filler.

I started by glueing the four base panels together then glued the ground plan to it. Next was the card construction of the main gatehouse, cut out the windows and doors then make it up and add the roof.

The three square towers are next then the staircase side towers are added to each one. The next step is to lay bricks on the staircase towers then they can be attached to the ground plan.

More soon.

BigGrin Hi All

Small update, the start of the build takes time as you need to cover the small stair turrets with stone. This involves a lot of sanding of the tiles for each facet of the towers. Then you add the floors/ inner walls at the top of the turrets and after that file the crenelations.

One tower has been finished and the outer curtain wall added to it. The second turret is nearly completed just 5 more stair turrets to do then all the curtain walls can be added.

More soon

This is very impressive Andy, Cool Cool Cool Cool

I thought that the walls may buckle with the build starting at the top first, but the supporting card frame is obviously a lot stronger than I thought.Blushing

I`ll be following with real interest as I have an older version of a similar thing by Del Prado. It`s a Medieval fort that`s in my stash and it`s built on the same principles.

One pic attached.

Happy building with this one, I`ll be following for sure. BigGrin

BigGrin That's a blast from the past Derek. If I remember correctly there were some complaints about the dye's used in the bricks can stain clothes so I would wear old clothes when you build itCool

BigGrin Hi all

First some thoughts on the build so far. Making this kit makes you feel good not sure why but its very satisfying. Once you have clad the first tower it gets easyer to do the next one. The only thing that will put SWIMBO off big time is the dust as there is lots off filing to get the blocks to look right and around the doors/windows. The round towers also need to be sanded round by taking the corners that stick out off

All the square towers have had there stair turrets added and then they were glued to the base along with all the outer curtain walls. The next job is the front door and door step, smaller blocks are used for the central part and larger on the outer to get the basic shape then its out with the files to give more shaping to the stone edges.

Next the four round corner towers were made up, one tip here and on any tower is to make extra internal formers from the scrap card in the kit, each tower is provided with two inner formers adding a couple more helps the tower keep the correct profile. One corner tower is now complete and sanded but may need a little more work yet.

More soon.

Looks like a lot of patience is required with all those small blocks but the finished tower does look damn impressive Cool
