Hi all just a quick update, have finally found time to do a bit of modeling on me Yamato. First managed to put the two metal peaces on the port and starboard side of the ship at the stern . Then spent a couple of hours sorting out the underneath of the hull measuring up ready for sanding the edges.

Finally managed to spend the day on doing some preparation work on the Yamoto. So went in the shed put the heater on as well as some ACDC and started to cut out the template's for the side of the boat. Decided to make them out of thin plywood in stead of card as I thought this would give me a more accurate shape ,Unfortunately I broke the blade on my electric band sew after the third template wich ment yes that,s right the other nine had to be done by hand ( nightmare ,I new I should have used card ) hopefully tomorrow I can start sanding the boat.

Finally managing to get some more work done on the Yamoto. So yes done most of the sanding to get the rough shape i want .Then started to gule the decking in place, got right to the back of the boat and yes you've gessed it, it was short by 2 to 3 mm when I fitted the very end peace. So had to figure out a way to sort this out. The only way I could do it was to take the last put one end peace off move it back towards the stern 2 to 3 mm then place them back on mark them in the right place and gule the last but one peace in place .I fix the gap by putting a 2 to 3 mm thin strip of wood between the two peaces if you look at the pictures you'll see what I mean. The end pea e is not glued on yet . Anyway way enjoy the picture hopefully have some more soon.

The weekend as gone well as far as the model biulding concerned.Managed to spray the hull in primer and it's looking a lot better. Also managed to start doing some of the decking wich I'm thoroughly enjoying. But i can't say the same for the dreaded metalwork, I think some of these parts should have been diecast in metal rather then have to make them . Part,s like the mini machine gun,s to glue 1 mm wire that's 5 mm long on to a 2 or 3 mm diecast peace of metal that you can barely hold with tweezer,s or mini pliers is rediculous. The big gun,s where fine the next size down will be fine but these very small one, s I think is to much even for the professional modeler to put up with especially if your eye sight isn't good and two of your fingertips are numb.Any way enough of me ranting have put some more pictures up hope you enjoy.

Spent part of weekend catching up with some decking work . A bit surprised by the difference in colour of some of the stick,s .I just hope that when it come,s to sanding the decking down it will blend in a bit better.
