Hello, just joined here after finding this terrific forum. Been building models for over 60 years, but have only built one plank on frame ship, the Mamoli Constitution. (For anyone who hasn't yet attempted to build one, I can tell you when I opened the box to find a mess of dowels and sticks, with poorly translated instructions, I thought "ah, forget it" .Don't be discouraged, you can do it!). Swore I'd never spend years on another one, but became aware of this Victory a while back, reminding me how cool I thought my Revell one was that I made back in the 60's. Seems to be about a $1000 over the Latina version, (Ebay:$503.,and is there much difference between them?) but this forum, with such helpful members, the precise instructions, and the pay as you go way, I think I'll have something to do over the coming winter! Welcome to ModelSpace, hope you enjoy your stay with us and look forward to seeing your work
There are many differences between the Artesania retail kit and the DeAgostinii version.
The DeAgostini version gives you the option to have a gun deck cutaway, has crew figurines, more ships boats and instructions that are far easier to follow than the Artesania manual, it also has various other changes that make it more accurate than the Artesania version and also the option (at additional cost) to copper plate the hull and instructions provided of how to go about this.
Yes the DeAgostini Victory was born by Artesania design, but it’s far superior in many ways.

I hope you enjoy your build and share your progress here on the forum.

Thanks all for the nice welcome, and to Tomick for the comparison!. I was just curious, but thought the "pro's" were worth the extra dollars. Bruce

Sure, John; it's Bruce. (But not him, I was born 3 weeks before the "famous one" from N.J. ). Bruce
