Hi All,
In 2009, in my scuba diving days I was fortunate to dive in the Red Sea on a week long diving holiday.
One of the main parts of the diving was a day making four dives on the
SS Thistlegorm.
Sank in the second world war this wreck still to this day holds it`s cargo of military equipment. (That`s apart from what`s been looted)
There are motor bikes in the back of trucks and all sorts of other gear.
The remains of two small steam engines lay off each side of the wreck where they were blown by the explosion.
Alas, my diving days are over, but the memories still lingre on and when I saw on the news that a team were visiting the wreck to produce a virtual reality tour of the said wreck I had to take a look.
At the moment I think it`s in the 3D mapping stage, (technology way above my head)but thought it may be of interest to some to see where they are at with this project.
Follow the link and near the top of the article you can go to the "website" (highlighted in blue) and see the outside of the wreck.
If you wish to see some of the interior then type in SS Thistlegorm on Youtube and there`s loads of videos from divers.
So the link:
