Slow progress at present here as I've been waiting for a can of paint.

I wasn't entirely happy with the colour match on the floor with the car body so I ordered a rattle-can of the genuine article.
If you want the same paint, the code is:

Jaguar/Daimler 4 PEA ICI 184

It was £16 for a can, but it matches incredibly well.

Onward when the paint is fully hardened.

Roy,

Did the same as you - ordered an aerosol can of 'Jaguar Racing Green' from Halfords. Colour match perfect after a grey primer coat, although I felt it was not properly hard until several days later for some reason.

After the rear suspension, wonder where it's going next?

A small update and alteration here.

Another look at my friends E Type showed the top of the radiator to be flat all over, and the same width from end to end.
Further Googling showed a lot of E Types to be the same so I've altered mine.

There should be two braces between the rad and the bottom of the header tank support frame so these will be made and added.

Thanks chaps.
Just a point about the paint - mine wasn't from Halfords so I can't vouch for that particular colour match.
If it works ok, let us all know.

Anyway, more on the radiator.

There should be two angled metal braces between the top of the rad and below the header tank.
Now made and fitted.

Roy.

I sprayed all the underside, and the front two 'legs' on the upper side as parts of those panels will show through the engine frame.

Roy,
I can vouch that the can of Jaguar Racing Green I got from Halfords is a perfect match. Not available off the shelf but special order took about a week. Not Halfords branded but from a company called LKG Coatings.

Brushed a bit on to repair a scratch I made on the bulkhead - pretty much invisible, finish on floorpan probably better than the body panels so far but, like I said, watch the drying time!

Moving ahead a little more slowly at present as I've got a few other things on the go at the same time.

The floor is just about sorted and the rear diff and cage are assembled.

The rear parts were all repainted and I chose to make the shocks silver instead of the grey plastic.
Lots of de-seaming on the assorted components.

I'm guessing another wheel will be with us pretty soon - maybe two.

It's probably just that I always lay my final coat on as what they used to call a 'flood coat'.
I worked in a display company years ago that had a paint shop. I was always gobsmacked at how one old guy there could lay paint on incredibly heavily and flat, yet it never ran.

Enough paint to look glossy, wet and smooth, but just before it begins to pool or run.

It takes a little practice but isn't difficult at our scale.
I'd never dare try it on a 1:1 car!

No gloss top coat.

Roy.

Thanks Malc.

A really HUGE update today...
I've added the 'Marston' plate to the top of the radiator.
