Just wanted to share an thought i am playing with around the the white gun strip. I am still planning to bild my conny natural wood the kit comes with dark wood for the outer hull planking, it occurs to me that the deck planking not used on planking the lower gun deck could be used forbthe white strip keeping to a natural wood finish. The deck stripwood has a yellow tone to it, which once varnished will highlight the yellow tone rather than simulate white.
You would be better to use basswood or maybe have a go at bleaching the deck stripwood.
