I remember seeing Joy on one of those wartime documentaries on Yesterday. She was so matter of fact about the dangers involved in the ATA duties - including nearly getting shot down by our own AA defences if you entered a no fly zone by accident.
These ladies probably flew more different types of aircraft than most RAF pilots did. I don't know if it was Joy or not, but one of the ATA girls interviewed had her heavy bomber searched after delivery - the receiving squadron wouldn't believe her when she told them she'd flown it there!BigGrin
