I have encountered a problem with the installation and alignment of the quarterdeck in Issue 45, and I am hoping that someone will be able to provide some guidance with the way ahead.
I have dry fitted the quarterdeck in position on the top of the outer hull. The problem with this is that the deck is on an angle to the deck support beams and does not make contact with these beams. The rear of the quarterdeck is 3mm above the support beam at frame 22. I have placed a ruler along the support beams for the quarterdeck and aft and all of the beams are level.
I am considering one of three options to solve this problem:
Option 1 (least preferred): Cut / sand the rear part of the outer hull to reduce the angle of the quarterdeck. (I have temporarily marked out the section to be reduced with Tamiya tape). This is likely to have a negative effect with the measurement and positioning of outer hull fittings.
Option 2 (preferred): Add filler strips to the quarterdeck support beams.
Option 3 (most preferred): Sand the edges of the quarterdeck so that it fits within the outer hull.
If anyone has encountered a similar problem, I would like to hear how this was resolved. Or, alternatively, provide advice on the options presented above.
Your assistance with this is sincerely appreciated.
Regards, Adam.
