What an imposing structure the full size bridge must be Blink This will look very impressive to the people viewing it on display.

That is a very impressive model.

Really like your skills in making some of the complicated parts from scratch. Those pulley wheels are very well done.
Happy Modelling

Thanks Derek for the coolies.

Actually looking forward to having my space back. The whole project will eventually go to the Ballina Maritime Museum, and yes it will fit through the door, sideways, with a half-inch to spare (according to my calculations).

Al

Thanks Al.
I am sure once the display gets crowded in with landscaping and the boat, it will lose some of that imposing size due to its current empty spaces surrounding the bridge.

Every time I go to the museum I walk passed the display area assigned to the bridge. In its place is a display of maritime navigational aids on the Richmond River at Ballina. The scale is about 1/200. The whole display space looks tiny in comparison, yet it is exactly the same area. I know, because I have remeasured it a few times to make sure I have not made a mistake. It is an illusion for sure.

Thank you Mark, Phil, and Tony for your encouraging words.

Decided to add the servicing gangway at top of tower.
Then painted the towers.

Received some plastic 1/72 scale figurines. I amputated the arm of one and reconnected it to make him look like he is waving. I plan to place him here (painted in high-visibility work clothes).

Created traffic lights with large 5 mm LEDs (easier to see from a behind point of view).
They turned out over scale, but I am sure the Ballina Museum can live with it.

Thank you Alan.

to continue:
I discovered before installing the towers that once they are in, the span cannot be removed for repairs. There won't be enough room to pass above the pulley wheels. So I cut off the lateral bumper rollers (the hidden side) and replaced them with removable ones.

Hello Gibbo.
It is fast because I posting photos in piecemeal to catch up to where I am at at the moment. Then it will be a lot slower. Thanks for your interest.

Prepared road base. Installed the necessary span and traffic lights wiring along bridge girders. Assembled road, towers and traffic lights in one go.

Thanks Phil and Paul for kind words.

Had to tie up the loose wiring under the table, mainly to log and keep track of the wiring. So they got terminated, and extra wires were added for connections to the Control Box.

Then I had the fiddly job of painting the railings.

I do not plan to paint the bridge to appear weathered, but as if brand new and unpolluted. It is something I learnt to appreciate from doing some architectural rendering in my youth. So, I gave the rest of the bridge a cement grey colour. The road will be painted to appear as concrete (with gravel).
