Very nice work. Looks really good, one tip for you.

Try to keep the spacer/support at the top of the frames in place whenever your not working on her as it tends to open up slightly over time. Then when you come to put the upper deck beams in place the gap is too wide.

Chris Cool

thanks for the tip Chris!!! It was already starting to spread. Hope I caught it in time.

Sage 9 Complete. Interesting couple of stages. In stage 8 there was a step omitted from the printed manual that was in the video on You Tube as well as the Official Build Diary. The step which involved cutting the 1X6 MM plank to fit around the deck supports in not there in the printed manual. Good thing I keep checking all three resources. Also, the construction of the false keel is in both stage 8 and 9 in the manual. Interesting...

stage 10 done. Working with the oak veneer was "so much fun". For trimming pieces to fit I found that a scalpel worked better than an hobby knife. Had to be very careful sanding - not a lot of thickness to work with.

Coming on very nicely, keep up the good work. I am looking at building this kit soon, something very different for me and out of my comfort zone, so it is great to see your progression.ThumpUp

Thanks Mark. This is new to me as well and is lots of fun. If I can offer one peice of advice that is to read the manual carefully and watch the video diary on Youtube.com. Sometimes the manual misses things.

Stage 12 done. This one was interesting. I don't know what I did but somehow I didn't have enough 2X3 mm wood to complete the grating frames so I had to build one frame out of laminated 1X3. Then, not paying attention to detail, I glued the brad gratings in wrong and had to rip them out and re-glue them.
