This is where I will build my RAF 100 Build Entry, the Tamiya 1/48 Bristol Beaufighter Mk x with Aries resin cockpit. The kits are on order so more detail once I receive them.

That's a really cool choice of subject Graeme, the Beau was an outstanding aircraft, as is that Tamiya kit. Really looking forward to watching your build develop and good luck in the competition. Cool ThumpUp

Thanks for looking in. I have now received the Tamiya kit and Aires cockpit. Pics 1-6 show the kit parts and Pics 7-11 the Aires parts. In the interim I have also ordered the Eduard etch set for the landing flaps.

Although the Tamiya kit parts are up to Tamiyas usual high standard in quality, on examination of the parts it is obvious that the Aires cockpit is far more detailed with some very small etch parts (I will definitely need my magnifiers). As a result I have since ordered the Aires resin wheel wells and will post pics of both these and the Eduard etch when they arrive.

I will not start the build until I have all the parts but may start removing the resin cockpit parts from their casting blocks this weekend if time allows.

Thanks for the comments. Just a brief update, ( note - I have decided to number the pics from start to end of build), I have received the Aires wheel wells – Pics 12 & 13 and the Eduard flap set, Pic 14. The Eduard set is for a Mk VI but will fit the Mk X.

Pic 15 shows some of the cockpit parts cleaned up and Pic 16 shows the Tamiya cockpit/gunners floor at the top and the Aires cockpit floor at the bottom. I won’t be cutting the Tamiya part until the resin cockpit is complete and test fitted into the fuselage.
