This is my entry for Build Of The Year competition 2018.
They are two Cuirassiers busts 200mm 1/9 scale busts.
The First bust depicts a cuirassier of the 8th Regiment capturing the Kings colour of the 2nd Battalion of the 69th South Lincolnshire at Quatre Bras, Waterloo 1815.
The second bust is a cuirassier leaning forward charging.
Thanks for looking in Ian.

They look to be nice neat crisp castings. I look forward to seeing them progress and picking up a few tips on figure painting - never been my forte.

The kit has been primed using Mode primer basecoat.
The base has been glued to the body.
I normally would start figures by painting the face. on this build I wanted to start with the flag as there is a lot of work to do using three colour red, blue, and white, and the arm down the back of the flag and shoulder detail.

The Arm was painted using foundry paint French Blue shade 65A for the base coat. The next coat of French Blue 65B was painted flat areas of the arm. the third coat of French blue 65c light was painted to the raised lighter part of the arms.

The Eppelette and frill where painted using British red coat shade 68a this gives you the colour for shaded areas. i then used british red coat 65b on the flat side of the frill and down some strand of the eppelette to give a lighter detail.

The third coat of paint was british red coat light. Used to give the frill and eppellete lighter areas. i used Tamiya XF-2 flat white to paint the edges of the frill and foundry Austrian white shade 67a to shade the white shaded parts of the frill.

Thanks for looking in. Ian

I think the first colours down always create the mood for the rest of the painting, I like that you started with some vibrant colour, looking forward to this

The flag was painted using two thin coats of Foundry British red coat shade 67a for the red parts of the flag. then left paint to dry.

I then did two thin coats of foundry British Royal Blue Shade 74a where added for the blue parts of the flag.

The base coats where finished with the foundry White shade 67a. two more lighter colour shades will be added to the flag.
Thanks for looking in.
