Hi All, So this will be my build diary, I intend to stay with the magazine, but I might just wander of, we will have to wait and see! Stage One - Keel and Bulkhead JigKeel & Bulkhead (Ribs) Jig Plan & Build! Found This- Keep it simple, easy to do, and only for a couple of quid, or bits you have around the home! I plan to place some wax paper down first btween the brackets and keel then it wont stick to the base!!!! Hi Magpie, Yep your right The pictures are from the canadian build to show what an easy jig it is to build, Im just like everybody else and upto part 3. Its so easy just to google it to get all the pictures and info you need but most people on here seem to have forgotten that, anyway, now I have an idea of how long the wood base is (36") I can make it. But as I am hanging on for a few months before I start the build I will just watch everybody else's attempts and see where they go wrong and hopefully learn and not do the same!! You do realise that despite the obvious wisdom in your strategic plan, the major drawback to it is that you won't have any excuses if things go pear shaped.. ; ) Not that I imagine that they will but..). Aye Aye Capitain, I want to finish my QM2 first then I can concentrate on Victory, besides how long will it take to glue 2 pieces of keel together ! and the Long wet summer nights are due, so theres my cue to dig out the canons!! EDIT!!! Forgot to say thanks for the JIg plan & Dimensions very Useful, Thanks Happy Building, Russ On the workbench: My Victory Build Diary - Victory Cross Section Build Diary - Black Pearl Build DiaryUnder the Bench: Millenium Falcon, Black Pearl x 2, Coral Victory Cross Section, De Lorean

Hello Fellow Shipmates, Well I have 10 issues in the box now, Brackets for the jig, aliphatic glue, Cyno, etc etc, so I might make a start this week or I just might wait untill issue 20! enjoying your builds, watching with great intent!, seem theres a few problems with the launch!!umm !! Well on my reckoning and the way parts seem to be comming out, it looks like we will have all the Keel and Ribs by issue 15!! dont know if admin can let us know there! jase wrote: just a point on the brakets. i bought some B & Q and not one of them is 90 degrees!! when i checked them with my set square. i subsiquently found some in one of the cheap shops wilkinsons i think they were half the price and bob on 90 degrees its important you check if you use brakets to get your ribs correct. Again as I have said a million times, always shop around, Wilkinsons have quite a range of odds and sods and some nice cheap tools! B&Q should now read "B&Que to be ripped off!" Im lucky enought to have a Selco Trade card, HALF the price and twice the quality!! Anyway enough of my ranting pictures on soon when/if I make a start!! Hi, Well I Have taken the plunge. I have started on the launch using 2 x 0.7 mm Annegre for the planking! as I think it will looks more to scale. The base was a little bit warped so it got screwed down to a bigger piece, I will be painting it so no real worries for now. More to come. (Homemade plank bending jig in background used with evryday soldering iron! lol) Happy Building, Russ On the workbench: My Victory Build Diary - Victory Cross Section Build Diary - Black Pearl Build DiaryUnder the Bench: Millenium Falcon, Black Pearl x 2, Coral Victory Cross Section, De Lorean

very good launch matey!! am i correct in thinking you have split your planks in half along the length? it looks much smarter that way and i feel the fit will be better it was one of my key learnings! excellent job keep it up “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
