For some added strength and gluing surface, I'm thinking of shaping some 1/4 inch thick basswood strips to fit between decks and sistered to frames 13,14,15 (then 26,27,28). Can anyone tell if the extra thickness would be in the way of any gun ports? And would attaching to aft or forward side of the frames make any difference?
Thanks for any advice,
Bruce

Hi Bruce, I'll have a look at this and get back to you. What is your reasoning for adding the extra basswood strips, you may just be creating extra work for yourself that isn't really necessary. Am curious.....Cool Cool

Thanks for the reply, Alan. Although I used balsa fillers on my Constitution, I did think it was probably not necessary here, I know many have been built without additional filler,
. I was just thinking the fairing would be helped, frames less prone to breaking, with some added strength. Must've had some kind of brain lapse in my planing; of course the inside beams will give enough support. Guess I'll just drop that brilliant idea!
And thanks for the offer to look into it!
