Hi All
I have been looking at a lot of build diaries etc and I have not come across one with th sails "stowed" not sure of the right term .I have seen ships with all the sails up,I have seen with the sails removed but none with the sails rolled up as if the ship was in harbour or at anchor does anyone remember seeing an example or have built one this way I would be keen to build mine this way any advise will be appreciated

BigGrin Hi Trev I am building the Soleil Royal at the moment and have decided to have furled sails on the yards Cool
There are several ways of doing them . Some people make a set out of silk span material which is a lot thinner and doesn't create to much bulk . The second way is to use the sails that come with the kit and cut them down by a third to make them smaller Cool There are lots of pictures on the web of furled sails on real ships to give you some idea how they look Cool

It's going to be a few months before I get to doing mine but will show how I get on

Good luck with your build Cool

maybe a little complicated for a novice I will keep my eye on any builders who may be doing it on this site still in the far off future to make a decision now

Creating furled sails often means you have to reduce the sail size for them to look right on a model. Good luck anyway if you have a go Cool
