Regards Paul Hi Paul many thanks for your comments you are right some of this etch is very small. Thankfully thats the last of the tiny etch in the main. but loads of scratch building ahead on the trail Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

The Build now moves to the A4/V2 rocket.
Construction starts with the the lower halves. There are some tiny locating pins to help Mary the two halves but there is movement and easy to misalign the two halves. after pondering the task at hand I settled on holding the two halves together and flooding the joints with extra fine polly. The exhaust was fitted into one side to aid alignment.
A bit of care is needed with the instructions as there are two internal parts to fit before you marry the two halves, I missed they were internal and had to disassemble and start again
The two top halves have the same fit challenge, easy to misalign the two parts. once they are cemented together the nose cone was fitted.
There is a ring that connects the two rocket sections together. the bolt detail on the joints are really good.
there are 4 fins that look like rudders and were clearly movable. these are made up of two parts each and fit inside the tail of the rocket. The tail fins are single piece castings the fit hear is poor lots of slack in the fit and care is needed to ensure each fin is square. what ever way you fit it there is a sizeable gap at the joint with the body that needs to be filled. Take care with the filling as it is very easy to bury all that loverly surface detail.
at this point my assistant wanted to show some scale its BIG!!
Rocket done and set aside with the other parts ready for priming.
next we focus on the trailer, part wise we are not half way through yet, which gives some idea of the complexity of the launching trailer.

The build continues with the trailer which is also the launch frame and amounts to more than half of the kit parts, that said the trailer does have quite a bit of pipework missing, so some scratch building is required.
The first stage is the centre spine of the trailer bed and the support spars that come off it along with a storage box and the support frames for more storage. The spars need a little care to ensure correct angles and placement,
Next come the two side frames and two large plates at the rear of the tailor that forms the 'A' frame shape of the trailer. the fit is much more positive than the Hanomag, the engineering of the trailer appears to be much better, the side frames actually sat in place without adhesive.
there is a bank of gas tanks that need a little clean up after sticking together before mounting in to the tray and attaching to the trailer.
