'Bumping' a Doodlebug was considered highly dangerous. But did it actually happen? https://www.forces.net/n...lly-ram-v1-bombs-out-sky

Yes, definitely all true, some of the history programs on 'Yesterday' have had interviews with veteran pilots where they described how they did it! Raymond Baxter who co-hosted the BBC's Tomorrow's World series was a fighter pilot during the war and he described how he took part in a fighter sweep over a V2 site in northern France in 1944. As they roared over a V2 was in the process of being launched and Raymond's wingman loosed off a burst of cannon fire at it - the only recorded instance of a ballistic missile in flight having been engaged by a conventional fighter aircraft. As Raymond said later - "I dread to think what would have happened if he'd hit it!" Robin. I am fairly sure I have seen film footage of it being done somewhere but it definitely happened although many squadrons banned it I believe http://www.dailymail.co....course-planes-wing.html
