Not sure how I feel about this, but would probably prefer to see a memorial on an actual airfield, rather than by the roadside

Sadly, I can see it being rejected on 'safety' issues.
'Oh - little children/drunken idiots will climb the support structure to get to the aircraft and fall off...'...
Good job - their fault. I bet the councillors don't see it that way though.

What a fabulous idea, I love it (of course), though I would prefer to see the poppies adorning the support structure permanently not just around Remembrance Day.
I understand where you are coming from Graham, but I think it is right and better that it should be next to a main road and not on an airfield. If it was on an airfield it would most likely only be seen by aviation buffs who know about the Lancaster and it's crews already and would go there to look at it, whereas by a main roadside it would be seen by thousands of people everyday as they drive past and would be reminded of the great sacrifices made by our 'Bomber Boys' of WWII?
Just my opinion and I hope that it does get permission to be built sooner rather than later. I'd love to drive past that every day!
Thanks for posting Andy.
