I have been buying the Robi2 magazines from Japan and thought that members here might be interested in my Robi2 build. I don't have a Robi, but it looks as though the build is pretty similar, just the Robi2 has a few extra components towards the end of the build.
For anyone who has not seen the Robi2, there is more detail here: https://deagostini.jp/rot/ (page in Japanese).

Here are the screenshots from the first 4 boxes, as far as I can tell, these are identical to Robi.

BigGrin Hi M bennett

Firstly welcome to the forum and enjoy your build.

If you resize your pics to around 600 x 338 pixels they should show up in your forum thread.

Just one point, you will find that the voice chip supplied with robi2 will be Japanese language only.

Regards

AndyCool

Hi all, thanks for the help with the photos, I think I have them sorted now.
Andy, I'm aware that Robi2 will only have the Japanese voice recognition and speech. I've been learning Japanese for a couple of years and will be interested to see if I can get Robi to understand me. I also prefer the Japanese to the English Robi voice, I think he's cuter in Japanese. :)

On with the build, boxes 4-8. Robi2 comes with more customisation options than Robi, you can't see in the photo here, but we have a choice of blue, pink or orange ears at this stage and I believe there will be different feet colours as well. Book 8 stepped us through setting up the first servo which was a little nerve-wracking as I wasn't 100% sure of the instructions (in Japanese), but it seems to be working as it should.

So, the next build phase of Robi 2 starts on his arms. I forgot to take a photo of my progress after magazine 12, so this post covers magazines 9-16; 9-12 put together the right arm using the servo set up in issue 8. Then 13-16 cover a similar process for the left arm. I enjoyed testing the servos in the completed right arm after issue 12, switching between the different servo numbers to test each individually, gives a good idea of what the final range of motion will be.
Issue 16 also supplied additional silver and red ear covers to give a total of 5 different colour options for the ears, as shown in the photo below. A leaflet included in the magazines also shows that you can buy a set of parts to give him either yellow or silver feet, but because there are quite a few parts involved these cost 4800 yen (about £32) plus tax each, or both for 7800 yen (about £52) plus tax.
