I thought it may be interesting to see how experienced we are For me it's my 1st wooden model. Nothing like easing into a new hobby

I voted 'never made one before', although this isn't exactly true

I used to make airfix model airplanes when I was knee high to a grass hopper with my Dad. I had quite a few. Until I got bored one day and........yes.........I'm sorry to any model airplane makers....... but took them for a test flight out of my bedroom window to see which one would go the furthest

So this IS actually MY first model build

It will be my first wooden model. As i did some years ago some modelling, i'm not scared to undertake such a big task. I even think most of it will be easier then paper and card models. Also if i did have superglue when building Japanese navy from Tamiya plastic sets, it would be very easy.
For me most difficult looks putting the planks on the hull. Also cutting gun ports seems tricky, as it will weaken the planking.

i hav made a few small wood ones and small plastic ones too but nowt like this and the size of this one

Im 60 years old and been modeling since 11 years old,figerines,ships,planes,model railways,laying track,buildings,landscapes all built from sratch,now its time to turn my attention to THE H M S VICTORY in wood,really looking forward to it,,

Is my first wooden build, I will be doing the Victory as per the issues and HM Mortar Vessel Convulsion along side to cut my teeth on. My experience since childhood has been plastic kits and latterly Doll houses. So I'm really looking forward to this build, it looks like its going to be great fun and that whats its all about enjoying yourself!

46 yrs old now, been modelling since I was 9, up until 3 yrs ago it was only plastic models. Last model made from plastic was Titanic. Since then it's been wood. Halfway through a wooden model of a French Sloop called 'Le Astrolabe' and now Victory. Did start collecting the Hachette model of the Lancaster, but not impressed by the quality of the parts or detailing considering the size of it. Anyway prefer the ships.

First wooden ship kit but have been making plastic models from being a kid, i then went on to model enginnering after leaving the royal navy, making smal steam engines making rc tanks, i am realy looking forward to building this model and learning the new skills we will need

Hi Everyone, it's great to see so many others who share the same passion for modeling, and not just the catwalk type
I am 38 years old and have been making and building models since 4, it was a soda rocket, that I built with my granddad what got me started, from there I have made pipe racks out of washing pegs, a WWII duck, out of lollipop sticks, eiffel tower out of matches etc.
I have also made countless models from the Airfix range, from spitfires, to the space shuttle, from Titanic to the Golden Hind, but none have pleased me more than completing the full wooden period ships I have successfully built and finished.
My first was the UNION by constructo, followed by HMS BOUNTY, the Cutty Sark and my last was the Mayflower, but the Victory we now build will be the largest wooden model I have ever undertaken, and I'm really looking forward to it.

This is my 6th wooden model, including Titanic and Bismarck, but my first boat of this type. I did start another Artesania Latina , small fising boat, but when next doors cat got locked in my shed for 2 days it ate my hull which I just built, I wonder is it possible to get the replacement pieces.
