Fitting the side details.

Take the main body panel and shoulder seal. Align the shoulder seal with the shoulder joint on the body panel, matching up the lugs on the back with the holes in the panel. Push the two lugs into the body panel so the seal fits flush.

Take the two parts of the octagonal heat exhaust and fit them together, securing the centre with a 2.3x6mm black self-tapping screw.

Align the two tabs on the back of the front external grille with the notches on the side of the internal plate and press the parts together firmly. Fit the tabs on the grille into the slots in the edge of the recess in the body panel and press the assembly into place. Secure it with two 2x4mm black self-tapping screws.

Fit the heat exhaust assembly over the octagonal hole in the body panel, ensuring the lugs are aligned with the posts. Secure the heat exhaust assembly with two 2.3x6mm black self-tapping screws.

Fitting the dome screws.

Take the dome assembly from Issue 66, plus the six Allen screws provided this time. Snap the screws off the sprue and use the Allen key to install them in their correct locations.

This Issue is now complete.

Issue 77 contains – Left Leg Support, Leg Support Bracket, Cable Ties, Cable Tidy, Allen Screws.

Assembling the leg support.

Align the leg support bracket with the leg support, fitting it onto the locating pins. Drive a 2.5x6mm screw through one hole in the bracket to fix it to the support. Add a second screw to secure the other side of the bracket.

Take the assembly, together with the body frame from Issue 75 and two 2.5x8mm screws. Align the leg support correctly with the frame, fitting the locating pins on the end of the support into the two holes in the frame. Press the support fully home and drive two 2.5x8mm screws up through the holes in the frame to fix the leg support to it.

Fitting the lightsabre ejector.

Snap three of the Allen screws off the sprue, the other three are spares.Identify the three points where the Allen screws will be installed and screw them in place.

Take the lightsabre ejector you assembled in Issue 37, plus the cable ties and coiled cable tidy provided this time. Gather all the wires from the ejector together and, starting at the bottom, wind the coiled cable tidy around all the wires. Continue winding the cable tidy around the wires until you reach the top. You can trim the cable tie to length with a pair of scissors if needed.

Use one of the cable ties to hold the wires to the side of the ejector mechanism. Use the second cable tie to hold the cable tidy to the body of the ejector tube. Pull both cable ties tight, then carefully clip off the surplus.

Identify the mounting ring on the dome frame under the hinged flap. The flap will fall open on its hinge when you invert the dome, so be careful not to damage it. Holding the ejector the correct way round, (with the mechanism on the left), offer it up to the dome keeping the wires out of the way. Keep feeding the tube into the dome, towards the mounting ring you identified earlier, checking that the two mounting holes at the end of the tube align with the mounting holes in the frame. Holding the ejector in place from below, secure it with two 2.3x6mm black self-tapping screws.

Wiring up the dome.

The circuit board has seven white sockets with labels next to them. There are only six devices to wire up but the ejector uses two connections. Most of the wires inside the dome are temporarily tied back, so you will need to route them systematically. The white cable clips screwed to the central ring frame are used to route the wires neatly so they won’t snag as the dome rotates.

Start by uncoiling the lead for the rear status display. Feed these wires into the closest of the cable clips, followed by the other two, en route to the circuit board. Fit the plug into the end socket, which is labelled ‘GY’.

Now uncoil the lead to the rear LCD display screen. Feed the wires into the cable clip to the right, followed by the other one next to the circuit board. Fit the plug into the second socket, which is labelled ‘LCD1’. Now take the short lead from the front LCD display screen. Fit its plug into the third socket, which is labelled ‘LCD2’.

Uncoil the lead for the front status display, saving the twist of wire holding it together. Fit its plug into the fourth socket, which is labelled ‘R B’. Take the twist of wire you saved and use it to hold the lead in a neat loop.Take the lead from the projector and plug it into the end socket, which is labelled ‘Projector’.

Take the leads from the lightsabre ejector, which have two plugs on the ends. Fit the larger plug (which connects to the limit stop) into the socket labelled ‘LS’. Fit the smaller plug (which connects to the motor) into the socket labelled ‘M’. Route the cable tidy neatly off to one side.

This Issue is now complete.

Carefully store any remaining parts in an issue labelled bag for future use.

Issue 78 contains – Left Tool Compartment Door, Left Tool Compartment, Cover Connectors, Gripper Fingers, Gripper Hand, Tool Arms, Tool Arm Tubes, Tool Pivots, Tool Hand, Tool Probe.

Assembling the first arm.

Carefully separate the three gripper fingers from the sprue. Use spots of superglue to fix the pins on each finger into the three holes in the gripper hand, pressing each into their respective slots. Glue the pin on the hand into the hole in the correct tool arm, noting that it will only fit one way round.Fit the forked end of one of the tool arm tubes over the longer tool pivot. Bolt the parts together with a 2x8mm screw and nut , supplied with Issue 76. Tighten the screw until the joint will just move freely without feeling sloppy. Glue the tool arm assembly into the tool arm tube: it only fits one way round.

Assembling the second arm.

Separate the probe from its sprue, making sure you do not cut off the projecting pin. Glue the pin into the hole in the tool hand. Glue the assembly onto the pin on the end of the remaining tool arm, noting that it only fits one way round.Fit the forked end of the second tool arm tube over the shorter tool pivot. Bolt the parts together with a 2x8mm screw and nut, supplied with Issue 76. Tighten the screw until the joint will just move freely without feeling sloppy. Glue the arm assembly into the end of the tool arm tube, noting that it only fits one way round.

Fitting the tools to the compartment.

Take the two arm assemblies, together with the tool compartment and two 2.3x6mm self-tapping screws. Plug the shorter pivot into the correct hole in the compartment, noting which way round it fits. Screw the pivot to the tool compartment with a 2.3x6mm self-tapping screw. Repeat the procedure to install the other tool arm.Fold down the multi-function utility and interface arm, followed by the manipulator arm.

Fitting the tool compartment door.

Please note the instructions for issue 78, page 13, pictures 1 and 2 say to use two 2 x 11 screws. The correct screws to use are the half threaded 2 x 9mm screws provided in issue 76.

Collect the tool compartment door, the two silver hinges supplied this time and two 2x9mm screws (supplied with Issue 76).Screw one of the hinges to the bracket on the door using a 2x9mm screw, ensuring that it is free to move without being sloppy. Repeat with the other hinge. Check that the hinges pivot smoothly and slacken the screws if they are tight.Fit the door to the compartment, ensuring that the hinges fit into the square sockets. Secure both hinges to the compartment using 2.3x6mm self-tapping screws.

Installing the tool compartment.

Take the front panel from Issue 76, four 2.3x6mm self-tapping screws and the tool compartment, which you fit with the door open.Slide the open door through the widest part of the opening in the panel and feed the tool compartment into place making sure that the tab on the panel fits into the notch on the side of the tool compartment. Secure the tool compartment now by driving 2.3x6mm self-tapping screws through the four tabs on the compartment, into the lugs on the panel.

Collect all four cover connectors, noting that the end two are different shapes. Fit the top connector over the lug on the panel so that the two triangles point to each other and fix it with a 2.3x6mm self-tapping screw. Now screw the two L shaped connectors to the two lugs on the tool compartment, again using 2.3x6mm self-tapping screws. Fit the bottom connector over the lug on the panel so that the triangle points away from the panel and fix it with a 2.3x6mm self-tapping screw.

This Issue is now complete.

Carefully store any remaining parts in an issue labelled bag for future use.
