Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Rear panel outer/inner, Details 1-5, Detail 6 x4, Screws x2, Washers x2.

Glue the outer and inner rear panels together in the same way you did for the front panels and press the parts together until the glue has dried.

Remove details 1 and 2 from their sprue and glue details 1, 5 and 3 down the left/inner side of the rear panel, followed by details 4 and 2 on the right side.

As you did for the front panel, fit the rear hatch through the rear panel and slide the panel into the gap next to the hinges. Then ensuring there is no gap fix the end panel using the two screws and washers to the floor. Now using a little glue fix the tab at the rear end of the longitudinal frame into the hole in the top of the inner rear panel and hold until the glue dries.

Finally fix the four details 6 to the front end panel.

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Front base panel, Rear base panel, Rollers x2, Roller ends x4, Axles x2, Screws x15.

Join the front and rear base panels via the lugs and secure with four screws.

Glue a roller end to each side of a roller making sure there are no gaps and repeat so you have two rollers with both ends fitted. (One shown)

Carefully lower the pod assembly onto the base making sure the rollers stay in position, the fixing holes line up and that the rollers can rotate freely. Now fix the floor to the base with four screws along the centre of the floor and three screws along each outer edge. Finally roll the pod back and forth a bit to check that the rollers work.

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Detail 5, Detail 6, Detail 7 (white back), Detail 8 (red back), Detail 9 x2, Plug.

Start by slotting the forward tip of detail 5 under the front wall and then fit the detail in place via its four pins.

Glue detail 7 in place across from detail 5 and similarly glue detail 8 opposite detail 7. Note: When fixing the detail 9 parts into place do so carefully pressing their bases rather than the top of the part. The first detail 9 goes next to detail 7 and the second next to detail 8.

Now fix detail 6 into the front/left corner of the Pod floor making sure the pipe detail lines up neatly.

Domo

Parts supplied:
Suction pads x3, Actuators x2, Exhaust cylinder, Struts x3, Arm unit, Ariel bases x2, Exhaust L+R, Ariels x2.

Fix both aerial bases and the exhaust cylinder to the rear of the cockpit

Now separate the left and right exhausts from their sprue and fit them into the slots in the rear of the cockpit so the outer tips end up fitting neatly against the rear details.

Glue a strut into the square hole of each suction pad making sure the parts are set in a straight line and orientated correctly. When set glue one of the pads to each tip of the arms. Now fit the actuators into their holes. They should be orientated so they are reaching upwards and backwards, also check that they are both perfectly aligned.

Next fit the arm unit orientated so it is reaching upwards and forwards and that the actuators are holding the arm unit’s crossbar. The actuators should be holding the crossbar comfortably, without bending and with both securely clipped into place.

Finally fit the aerials to their bases using a little glue.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Stage 58

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Walkway R1 + R2, Walkway L1 + L2, Walkway C1 + C2, Fret with six stays.

Look for the R marks on the walkways R1 and R2, then join these together via the pins/holes using a little glue and holding them together until set. Now repeat this process for the left walkway L1 and L2 and the centre walkway C1 and C2.

Glue walkway C to the right walkway being very careful to orient the parts correctly to make sure the walkways handrails all join each other neatly as a continuous rail. Then glue the left walkway to walkway C.

Remove the stays from the sprue and fit stay L1 to the foremost frame via its two pins and fit stay R1 to the opposite section of the frame. Now repeat this operation fitting stays L3/R3 to the third frame and L5/R5 to the fifth frame.

Once the glue on the stays is dry open the pod’s hatches and feed the walkways through the front opening. Then secure the walkways to the stays by gluing the recesses in their footpath sections to the tips of all six stays and hold the parts in place until the glue dries.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
