BigGrin Hi All
A few more pics on progress/painting , the railings have now been painted as has the rear 15 inch gun mount and the stern ventilation unit has been added. The 5 lower bridge tower gun mounts have been painted but I have used brown on the blast bags as this was the colour used during the war ,white or off white blast bags were a peace time colour according to my research. As always all comments questions are welcome
regards

BigGrin Hi All
Soon I will be getting to the rigging/arial stage so I have been looking around for other types available as I didn't fancy the look of the woven cotton type stuff provided [too hairy] in the part works and the reason I didn't use it on the flag deck.
here are two that I have found in my travels/searches the 1st is a bead stringing wire with a stainless steel centre and nylon covered in black at 0.92 mm thick and the other being black fishing monofilament again black and 0.15 mm thick you cab see the difference on the third pic. Hope this is of help

BigGrin Hi All
This month I finally got the other two main gun turrets so it been a construct all three together weekend. The usual metal bashing to remove all the burr's and flash but I also removed the ladders that were on the castings aswell, you don't have to do this but as etch ladders are provided off they came. There are three sets of etch ladders provided this month which is enough for two turrets only so I used the ladders from the Yamato etch set I have on the last turret.
The 1st pic shows the turrets as per the build instructions and the subsequent pics the turrets with the etch railings added, now its a coat of undercoat and top coat to do and the other bits to be made up this month, I will post more pics as I compleat them. As usual all comments/questions are welcome
regards

BigGrin Hi sJD47
Thanks for looking in and yes its the gold medal set if you look on page 11 of my diary, post no's 203 and 210 you can find more information on the set there. I got mine from the USA from 'free time hobbies' but I have just checked and there sold out at the moment, i will say its not an easy set to get hold of as 1/250 models are not a scale that's popular in plastic models and this as you probably already know is the source for most etch sets. Good luck with obtaining a set if your going down the same path as me and I hope this has been of help

BigGrin Hi All
just about finished this months parts now, all three main gun battery's are done apart from the adding of the machine guns. The lower anti aircraft guns have been attached along with the 6 machine gun housings, i also added the lower gun stops, railings to the bridge structure and added the flag rigging using the black fishing line I showed previously.
The forward and rear 15 inch gun bases have been attached to the hull, just be carefull when constructing the forward 15 inch gun base as the round part to the front has an angled base to follow the deck contours so carefull alignment is a must as the download dousnt really say anything about this, what I did is to keep turn the piece in its housing when its in the correct position there is no gap between the two parts. As usual all comments/questions are welcome
regards
AndyCool

PS although the pics show the bridge on the hull its not fixed as yet like the main guns
