Andy or Anyone Else, Can you recommend to tool/method to evenly spread putty over the hull to fix poor alignment. I have tried thin cardboard but the putty just sticks to the cardboard so while it works for a few times it becomes really hard to use after a few applications. Unfortunately I am not as an accomplished modeler has either you or Mr. T. Thanks for your help. Best Regards, Dan Current Builds: Yamato On the Bench: Akagi, USS Missouri

Hi db P38 car filler works well and it comes with an applicator. Or try a putty knife or a filling knife 1 to 2 inches wide. The putty knife works for me as it has a straight and rounded edge. Link below to give you an idea of what to look for:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/s...ty+knife&_sacat=631
Apply the filler by using the knife/applicator to push it into cracks then smooth excess off with the blade edge for larger areas overfill then smooth off the excess and sand back. Adding a finishing coat and smoothing back if necessary. Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

It is not compulsory to do anything in modelling but if you want a good smooth finish to the hull then it is highly recommended. You can use any good quality wood filler that is easy to smooth down, I wouldn't use a wall filler. The overall aim is to achieve a good smooth finish ready for painting.... Regards Alan

As Alan says it's not compulsory but small gaps can be filed with glue and as you sand the sawdust will fill the gap, wood strip cut to size and glued into the gaps is another way. For larger sizes you can use a good wood filler the cheaper ones can be gritty and crumble when sanded. Another alternative you could use is auto filler/bondo to fil the larger holes.
