Thanks Gray.....yes really enjoying the build. Received the dash and bits yesterday and will have to decide if it should be covered in black or dark brown to match the console.......  . I'll post some more pics shortly of the doors, chassis and wheels.

A big thanks to all who commented on my build so far. Keeps inspiring me to do better! Some good news.....I managed to source some very thin "sliver" leather which I want to use to cover the dash. Haven't received it yet but its on its way.
I will post some detailed pics when I have prepared. I also followed Roys decision to use authentic dash instrument detail. The speedo and rev counter in the kit are fine as these look like replicas of exact OEM equipment which was fitted to early Series 1 E types. The other small instruments , however, do not have the proper detail.....even though its very small and difficult to discern with the naked eye.
I found some original pics on the Smiths and Lucas websites. The Ammeter was originally a Lucas instrument with just "C" and "D" on the gauge representing charge and discharge. The other gauges were all Smiths manufacture.
So, onwards and upwards!!

Well its been a while since the last post....holidays and waiting for parts. However, I did some rework on the fluid reservoirs and the doors. I wasn't happy with the detail on the brake fluid reservoirs so re did them with the correct colour wiring. Also the doors which I previously covered with skiver leather but I didn't take the leather over the roll at the top of the door cards so have now rectified this. So the next steps were the dash, the rear luggage compartments and the two rear wheel arches. The dash was a bit fiddly as Roy previously commented. If you are going to cover your dashboard, get the thinnest fabric/leather you can get as this will be easier to work. I used 0.5 mm skiver and it was still quite an issue especially the cut outs for the speedo and rev counter. I ended up using some of my wife's jewellery memory wire to make some bezel surrounds. I have decided not to cover the top of the dash as it gives some nice contrast. For the rear luggage area I used the same skiver leather that I used on the doors, dash and transmission tunnel. Good contrast with the chrome skid strips! Looking forward to the next deliveries...... acinsa1 attached the following image(s):

Just a quick update and a few pics showing latest assembly stages. I've covered the back door with leather (like Roy!- thanks for the idea!). It was a bit fiddly having to file off the plastic bosses where the screws used to be but it was worth it. The back door has smooth lines with no protrusions. I used the same dark brown leather that I used on the doors and center console. Next I did some detail on the windscreen wipers. Instead of painting the edge of the wipers black (to represent the wiper rubber), I glued some very thin pieces of black tubing cut into small strips. I think they look better than a painted edge. For the door frames and sills, I left them in the original colour and just gave them a clear semi matt spray. I was worried that even with a very thin leather covering that the doors would be too tight and not open and close easily. I did include a foil trim on the edge. I was also thinking that foil on the door catches would also peel off when opening and closing the doors so decided to paint them with metallic chrome paint. For the upcoming stages I am planning on fitting a micro controller to control the lights and indicators. I've done a prototype which allows the headlights to have bright and dipped functions, brake lights as well as flashing left and right indicators. It runs with a web app and also with Amazon Alexa. When I receive the additional wiring harnesses and connection pcb I'll post some details and pics. acinsa attached the following image(s):

Ill be interested in the microcontroller for the lights,
Ive bought all the LED's to put in the other places on the dash and things and was wanting to make a more extensive lighing option available.
